Description
ALLEN BRADLEY 140U-JD6D3-D20
Overview
ALLEN BRADLEY 140U-JD6D3-D20 is a Bulletin 140U molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) from Allen‑Bradley current‑limiting low‑voltage protection series, JD frame size, thermal‑magnetic trip type. It is widely supplied as exchange spare for motor control centres, industrial distribution panels, machine main feeders and power cabinet overhaul and replacement.
Features
ALLEN BRADLEY 140U-JD6D3-D20 integrates thermal overload protection for sustained overcurrent and fixed magnetic instantaneous short‑circuit protection. The current‑limiting design restricts fault energy rapidly during short‑circuit events, reducing stress on downstream wiring and components. It supports a full lineup of field accessories, including auxiliary contacts, alarm contacts, shunt trip, undervoltage release, rotary handle and terminal shields.
ALLEN BRADLEY 140U-JD6D3-D20 has a front toggle operating handle with clear ON/OFF/TRIP visual indication. The breaker is rated for AC low‑voltage distribution and motor feeders, compliant with UL 489 and IEC 60947‑2. It supports backfeed installation and common accessory compatibility with the broader 140U family. This is a legacy discontinued model, commonly stocked for old machine retrofits.
Specs
ALLEN BRADLEY 140U-JD6D3-D20Platform: Allen‑Bradley Bulletin 140U Type: current-limiting MCCB Catalog number: 140U-JD6D3-D20 Frame: JD frame Poles: 3-pole Rated current In: 200 A Trip type: thermal-magnetic Rated voltage: up to 600 VAC Construction: fixed mount Protection rating: IP20 This is not a contactor, soft starter or overload relay; it is a thermal‑magnetic molded case circuit breaker for branch and motor feeder protection. ALLEN BRADLEY 140U-JD6D3-D20 is widely supplied as service replacement spare for low‑voltage distribution feeder protection failure.
Principle
ALLEN BRADLEY 140U-JD6D3-D20 passes load current through the thermal bimetal strip and magnetic coil. A prolonged overload heats the bimetal and triggers delayed tripping. Short‑circuit fault current creates a strong magnetic force that instantly releases the trip mechanism and opens the main contacts. After tripping, the mechanism latches and requires manual reset. Auxiliary contacts change state to send status signals to PLC or annunciator circuits.
Applications
ALLEN BRADLEY 140U-JD6D3-D20 is deployed for industrial motor feeders, machine main disconnects, pump and fan circuits and small distribution switchboards. It is selected for spare inventory and control panel retrofit projects for existing Allen‑Bradley 140U protection systems.
