Description
Allen-Bradley 312804-A12
Overview
Allen-Bradley 312804-A12 is a power inverter board for Rockwell PowerFlex 753 / PowerFlex 755 AC drive series. Allen-Bradley 312804-A12 is the core power stage assembly that converts DC link voltage into three-phase PWM AC output to drive the induction or permanent magnet motor. Allen-Bradley 312804-A12 is a field replaceable internal drive board, widely stocked as spare for PowerFlex 750-series drive cabinet repair and overhaul.
Features
Allen-Bradley 312804-A12 integrates IGBT power devices, gate drive circuits, current sampling sensors and thermal monitoring components. It receives PWM gate commands from the drive control board and generates high-frequency variable-frequency three-phase output for motor speed and torque regulation. Allen-Bradley 312804-A12 supports continuous current monitoring for overcurrent protection, and embedded temperature sensors track IGBT junction temperature for thermal derating and over-temperature fault protection. It interfaces with the main control board via signal headers to feed back current, temperature and power stage fault status. Allen-Bradley 312804-A12 includes built-in isolation between power and low-voltage control circuits, and it is designed for forced air cooling inside the PowerFlex 753 / 755 drive frame. The board supports detailed fault logging for short circuit, ground fault, IGBT failure and gate drive errors for troubleshooting.
Specs
Allen-Bradley 312804-A12 is matched to specific frame size of PowerFlex 753 and 755 drives for 480V class AC input systems. It is an internal power inverter assembly, not a standalone drive unit, requiring matching control board, DC bus capacitor bank, fan and busbar connection. The weight is approximately 2.27 kg. This part number is a service replacement spare and is not listed in the standard Rockwell automation catalog front series. Allen-Bradley 312804-A12 is widely supplied as exchange spare for drive breakdown maintenance.
Principle
Allen-Bradley 312804-A12 takes stabilized DC bus voltage from the drive rectifier section. The gate drive circuit switches the IGBTs on and off according to PWM signals sent from the control board. The alternating high-speed switching creates a sinusoidal three-phase variable voltage and variable frequency waveform to rotate the motor. The current transformers on Allen-Bradley 312804-A12 sample each phase current, which the drive uses for closed-loop current regulation and fault detection. If overcurrent, over-temperature, IGBT short or ground fault is detected, the gate drive immediately disables the IGBTs and sends a fault code to the drive controller to prevent further hardware damage.
Applications
Allen-Bradley 312804-A12 is used as replacement power inverter board for PowerFlex 753 and PowerFlex 755 variable frequency drives deployed on fans, pumps, conveyors, extruders and general process machinery. It is selected for spare inventory and drive repair projects when the original power stage fails due to overload, surge or aging. It is the critical power conversion component inside the PowerFlex 750-series AC drive platform.
