Overview

ALLEN BRADLEY 150-F85NBD is the SMC-Flex intelligent soft starter (smart motor controller) under Rockwell Allen‑Bradley Bulletin 150 series. It is an open-frame solid-state motor controller with built-in bypass contactor, rated 85A, suitable for three-phase asynchronous motors within 15–60Hp @460V. It is widely supplied as exchange spare for fan, pump, compressor and conveyor MCC cabinet overhaul and soft starter replacement.

Features

ALLEN BRADLEY 150-F85NBD adopts six SCR phase control structure, supporting multiple start and stop modes including soft start, current limit start, kickstart, soft stop and pump control mode. The pump control function effectively reduces water hammer and pipeline impact for centrifugal pump loads. After motor completes acceleration, the internal bypass contactor closes to bypass SCR power components, reducing heat generation and extending service life.

ALLEN BRADLEY 150-F85NBD integrates LCD display and keypad for local parameter setting, real-time current, voltage, power monitoring and fault history query. It provides comprehensive protection functions including electronic overload, phase loss, phase imbalance, overvoltage, undervoltage, SCR overheat, ground fault and stall protection. It supports Modbus RTU communication to exchange operating data, alarm signals and remote control commands with PLC and SCADA systems. Parameter backup, fault waveform recording and maintenance diagnosis can be completed via Rockwell software tools. It complies with UL, CE and EMC standards for indoor cabinet installation with IP20 rating.

Principle

ALLEN BRADLEY 150-F85NBD adjusts the motor terminal voltage by controlling the conduction angle of SCR modules to realize smooth rising torque and limit starting current. When the motor reaches full speed, the built-in bypass contactor closes, SCR stops working and the motor runs directly on the grid. The internal sampling circuit continuously monitors three-phase current and temperature. When abnormal conditions exceed threshold, the controller cuts off SCR output, triggers trip and records fault codes, and sends alarm information to the upper host system.
