Overview

ALLEN BRADLEY 150-F60NBD is the SMC-Flex smart motor controller (soft starter) from Rockwell Allen‑Bradley Bulletin 150 series. This open-frame solid-state unit comes with an integrated bypass contactor, rated at 60 A, suitable for 10–40Hp three-phase induction motors at 460V. It is widely supplied as exchange spare for fan, pump, compressor and conveyor MCC cabinet overhaul and soft starter replacement.

Features

ALLEN BRADLEY 150-F60NBD uses six SCR phase control architecture, supporting multiple start and stop profiles including soft start, current limit start, kickstart, dual ramp, soft stop and dedicated pump control mode to reduce water hammer in pumping systems. Once the motor reaches full speed, the internal bypass contactor closes to bypass the SCR power components, cutting continuous heat generation and extending service life.

ALLEN BRADLEY 150-F60NBD is fitted with a built-in LCD and keypad for local parameter setup, real-time metering of current, voltage and power, and fault history review. It provides comprehensive protection including electronic overload, phase loss, phase unbalance, overvoltage, undervoltage, SCR overtemperature, stall and jam detection. It supports Modbus RTU communication to exchange operating data, alarms and remote commands with PLC and SCADA. Configuration backup, fault diagnostics and waveform capture can be completed via Rockwell programming software. It meets UL, CE and EMC requirements for indoor cabinet mounting with IP20 rating.

Principle

ALLEN BRADLEY 150-F60NBD adjusts motor terminal voltage by modulating the SCR firing angle to achieve smooth torque build-up and limit inrush current. After acceleration completes, the bypass contactor closes and the motor runs directly across the line. Onboard sampling circuits continuously monitor three-phase current, voltage and heatsink temperature. When measured values exceed configured thresholds, the controller blocks SCR firing, initiates a trip, stores fault codes and transmits alarm signals to the host control system.

Applications
