Description

ABB EKIP DIP LSIG SN:CH9A5VH56260X001

Overview

ABB EKIP DIP LSIG is a dip-switch type solid-state trip unit for ABB SACE Tmax XT series and Emax 2 air circuit breakers, the serial trace code CH9A5VH56260X001 is used for production batch and component traceability. LSIG covers four protection functions: Long-time overload, Short-time delay, Instantaneous short-circuit and Ground-fault residual protection. It adopts simple dial and dip switch setting without built-in display, widely supplied as exchange spare for industrial low-voltage distribution cabinet, factory feeder panel and commercial building switchgear overhaul and breaker retrofit.

Features

ABB EKIP DIP LSIG supports adjustable long-time inverse curve overload protection for cables and general loads, short-time delay function for selective coordination with downstream protective devices, instantaneous protection for high-energy short-circuit faults and residual ground fault protection for insulation leakage risk prevention. It is self-powered from the breaker built-in current transformers, so core protection functions remain active even when auxiliary control power is lost. ABB EKIP DIP LSIG completes threshold and time setting directly via front dip switches and adjustment dials, no special software required for basic commissioning. Optional auxiliary alarm contacts can output trip and fault signals to PLC and SCADA systems. It records basic trip event information and can be matched with Ekip communication modules for remote status transmission. It complies with IEC 60947-2 standard and EMC requirements for indoor switchgear installation.

Specs

ABB EKIP DIP LSIGPlatform: ABB SACE Tmax XT / Emax 2 series breaker Type: dip-switch solid-state electronic trip release Serial number: CH9A5VH56260X001 Protection functions: L (long-time), S (short-time), I (instantaneous), G (ground fault) Setting method: front dip switches and adjustment dials Power source: self-powered via internal CTs Mounting: installed inside the corresponding XT / Emax2 breaker frame Enclosure rating: IP40 front This is not a complete circuit breaker or I/O module; it is the dedicated electronic protection trip unit. ABB EKIP DIP LSIG is widely supplied as service replacement spare for protection release failure and low-cost protection upgrade.

Principle

ABB EKIP DIP LSIG continuously samples three-phase current signals from the breaker CTs. The internal protection circuit compares measured current values against dip-switch preset thresholds. Overload protection uses inverse time delay to avoid nuisance tripping during motor starting; short-time delay setting realizes protection selectivity; instantaneous protection trips rapidly for severe short-circuit; ground fault function detects residual current caused by insulation damage. When any fault condition is triggered, the trip unit outputs drive signal to the breaker operating mechanism and activates alarm contact signal. Trip records can be read for maintenance root cause analysis.

Applications

ABB EKIP DIP LSIG is deployed for incoming feeders, bus tie circuits, general motor feeders and distribution branch protection in industrial plants, commercial buildings and low-voltage power distribution rooms. It is selected for spare inventory and panel retrofit projects for existing ABB Tmax XT and Emax 2 distribution systems.
