Description

WDK-2 Automatic Fog Horn Controller

Overview

WDK-2 is an automatic fog horn controller for marine air horn systems, commonly paired with WD-2 air fog horn. It is a bridge-mounted control unit that generates COLREG-compliant fog signal sequences automatically, manually or via remote watertight pushbuttons. WDK-2 is widely supplied as exchange spare for cargo ships, tankers, offshore vessel navigation safety system overhaul and replacement.

Features

WDK-2 adopts single-chip microcomputer control with low power consumption and stable timing performance. It supports standard fog signal rhythm settings defined in COLREG Rule 35, including one long blast, two long blasts, one long plus two short blasts and one long plus three short blasts, matching different vessel navigation status under restricted visibility. It integrates sound and light synchronization output to drive the air horn and navigation signal light.

WDK-2 supports multiple operating modes: automatic cycle, local manual control and remote control via external watertight buttons. It has automatic power switching function; when main AC supply fails, it switches to backup DC supply to maintain fog signal capability. The front panel has adjustable brightness indicators and function keys for mode selection and sequence test. It can be configured with supply options of AC220V, AC110V or DC24V. It meets SOLAS and CCS certification requirements, and IP20 for wheelhouse cabinet installation.

Specs

WDK-2Type: automatic fog horn controller Matching horn: WD-2 marine air fog horn Control modes: auto / local manual / remote control Signal sequences: COLREG standard fog blast patterns Power options: AC220V / AC110V / DC24V Max power consumption: ≤400W Operating temperature: -25℃ ~ +55℃ Protection: IP20 Mounting: panel mounting on wheelhouse console This is the control panel only, not the air horn sounder itself. WDK-2 is widely supplied as service replacement spare for ship fog signal control system failure.

Principle

WDK-2 receives trigger commands from operator buttons or internal timer. According to the selected navigation state, it outputs timed drive signals to the solenoid valve of the air horn and signal light. The timing sequence strictly follows collision regulation blast intervals. If main power is lost, the internal power switching circuit switches to backup DC supply to continue fog signal transmission. The controller monitors output circuit status and gives fault indication when the horn drive circuit is abnormal.

Applications

WDK-2 is deployed for ocean-going cargo vessels, oil tankers, work boats and offshore platform supply ships. It is selected for spare inventory and wheelhouse retrofit projects for existing WD series marine fog horn systems.
