Overview

SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC METSEPM8240 is the PowerLogic PM8240 power quality and energy meter belonging to the PM8000 series. It is a panel-mounted multi-function power monitoring instrument with integrated color TFT display, widely supplied as exchange spare for main switchboard, data center, industrial plant and building energy management cabinet overhaul.

Features

SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC METSEPM8240 supports high-precision electrical measurement including phase voltage, line voltage, current, frequency, active power, reactive power, apparent power, power factor, kWh and demand values. It implements Class S power quality measurement compliant with IEC 61000-4-30, capturing up to the 63rd harmonic, waveform snapshots, voltage sag, swell and rapid voltage change events for power disturbance root cause analysis. It supports EN 50160 and IEEE 519 compliance reporting for power quality audit.

SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC METSEPM8240 is equipped with dual Ethernet ports and RS485 interface, supporting Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU and ION protocol for connection to PLC, SCADA, EcoStruxure asset management software and BMS systems. It carries 512 MB onboard memory for long-term data logging and event storage. Built-in programmable logic and math functions allow custom calculations, alarm thresholds and virtual metering. Local operation, CT/PT ratio setup, alarm configuration and waveform review can be completed via the front color touch keypad display. It supports time-synchronized timestamp logging and meets cULus, CE and relevant metering standards.

Principle

SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC METSEPM8240 samples voltage from PTs and current from CTs continuously. The internal high-speed sampling engine calculates fundamental electrical values and decomposes harmonic components. When voltage sag, swell, harmonic distortion or over-limit power factor is detected, the meter triggers waveform capture and records timestamped event logs. Measured energy and power quality data are transmitted over Ethernet or RS485 to the upper monitoring system. The built-in logic engine of SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC METSEPM8240 executes user-defined alarm rules and pushes alarm information to SCADA and asset management platforms.
