Principle

Schneider Electric ATS48D62QS316 controls the firing angle of three-phase SCR modules to adjust motor terminal voltage and output torque following the set torque ramp curve. It avoids high inrush current and mechanical impact at startup. After motor acceleration, an external bypass contactor can close to bypass the SCRs to reduce heat generation. The internal microprocessor continuously samples line current, calculates motor thermal state and monitors fault conditions. When stopping, soft stop mode reduces torque gradually to eliminate pressure surge on piping systems. Fault and status signals are sent to the control system via relay contacts or Modbus.
