Overview

SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC ComPact NS800N is an 800A moulded case circuit breaker (MCCB) from Schneider ComPact NS series, “N” stands for breaking capacity grade Icu 50kA @415V AC, available in 3P or 4P configuration. SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC ComPact NS800N can be fitted with Micrologic electronic trip units for distribution protection, widely used for LV main incoming, bus tie and large feeder protection in power distribution cabinets, and commonly supplied as spare unit for switchgear overhaul and replacement.

Features

SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC ComPact NS800N supports multiple Micrologic trip unit options: Micrologic 2.0 (L+I), Micrologic 5.0 (LSI), Micrologic 6.0 (LSIG with earth fault). The trip unit can provide adjustable overload, short-time delay, instantaneous and earth fault protection. Higher grade Micrologic versions integrate power metering, event logging, waveform capture and Modbus communication for SCADA and EcoStruxure Power system integration. SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC ComPact NS800N supports fixed or withdrawable mounting form, with complete accessory portfolio: auxiliary contacts, alarm contacts, shunt release, undervoltage release, motor operator and interlock components. It meets IEC 60947-2 standard and has isolation function for lockout/tagout maintenance. This legacy NS generation is discontinued; the new ComPacT NS series is the successor platform.

Principle

SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC ComPact NS800N conducts normal load current when closed. The Micrologic trip unit continuously samples phase current and residual current signals. When overload, short-circuit or earth fault exceeds preset thresholds, the trip unit triggers the breaker’s release mechanism to open contacts and isolate the fault. Auxiliary and alarm contacts of SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC ComPact NS800N transmit breaker status and trip alarm signals to PLC and SCADA for SOE logging. Electronic trip units support thermal memory to prevent premature restart after overload trip.

Applications

SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC ComPact NS800N is deployed for main incoming feeder, bus tie breaker and heavy motor feeder protection in power plants, water treatment, chemical plants, marine switchboards and commercial building low-voltage distribution systems. It is selected for spare inventory and panel renovation projects requiring 800A MCCB with selective protection and earth fault supervision.
