Principle

ABB M102-P samples three-phase current from external CTs and line voltage signals. The internal microcontroller calculates the motor thermal image continuously and monitors electrical anomalies. It reads PTC sensor resistance to detect winding overtemperature. When values cross preset thresholds, the unit triggers trip output and locks motor start command. It stores thermal memory to prevent hot restart damage after power loss, and uploads operating data and fault information to upper automation systems via Modbus RTU.
