GE Novotron (Novo) legacy multi-axis servo drive system for printing textile packaging synchronous motion control

Description

GE Novo

Note: GE does not officially have a standard product line named "Novo". "Novo" is commonly the shorthand or misspelling for GE Novotron / Novatrol, or sometimes customer internal call name for legacy GE Fanuc / GE Power Conversion drive and control series, most inquiries for GE Novo refer to the old Novotron servo drive series.

The Novotron is a legacy high-performance servo drive system from GE Fanuc / GE Power Conversion, widely used for metal forming, printing, textile and packaging multi-axis synchronous control. This Novotron supports torque, speed and position control, matched with resolver or incremental encoder feedback servo motors. It adopts rack modular design, built-in backplane bus for axis synchronization and electronic cam functions.

This Novotron series supports multiple fieldbus interfaces and analog reference signals, with comprehensive protection including overcurrent, overvoltage, undervoltage and overtemperature. The front panel LED and handheld keypad support local parameter setting, fault checking and drive commissioning. It can be configured as single-axis or multi-axis coordinated control for flying shear, register control and winding applications.

The Novotron platform has been discontinued by GE. Most available units are tested surplus spare parts for emergency replacement and maintenance of legacy production lines.
