Description

ALLEN BRADLEY 1761-NET-ENI Product Description

Overview

ALLEN BRADLEY 1761-NET-ENI is an EtherNet/IP communication interface adapter for legacy Allen‑Bradley PLCs. ALLEN BRADLEY 1761-NET-ENI converts DF1 full-duplex RS-232 serial protocol into EtherNet/IP, enabling older MicroLogix, SLC 500 and PLC-5 controllers to connect to Ethernet networks. ALLEN BRADLEY 1761-NET-ENI is a discontinued spare part widely used for upgrading and maintaining old serial control systems.

Features

ALLEN BRADLEY 1761-NET-ENI is equipped with a 10/100Base-T RJ45 Ethernet port and an RS-232 mini-DIN serial port for connection to PLC serial ports. It supports auto-baud detection for DF1 full-duplex communication, with baud rate ranging from 1200bps to 38400bps. ALLEN BRADLEY 1761-NET-ENI has built-in web server configuration, users can set IP address and parameters via browser or BOOTP/DHCP. The module carries link and activity LED indicators for fast network status diagnosis. It operates on 24V DC low power supply and supports DIN rail mounting inside control cabinets. ALLEN BRADLEY 1761-NET-ENI supports remote programming, data monitoring and message communication over RSLinx. It can realize data exchange between legacy DF1 controllers and modern EtherNet/IP hosts, HMI and SCADA systems.

Specs

Brand: ALLEN BRADLEY Model: 1761-NET-ENI Product category: EtherNet/IP communication adapter Protocol: DF1 Full-Duplex, EtherNet/IP Ethernet port: 10/100 Base-T, RJ45 Serial port: RS-232, 8-pin mini DIN Power supply: 24V DC, 0.05A Configuration method: Web page, BOOTP/DHCP Compatible controller: MicroLogix, SLC 500, PLC-5 Mounting: DIN rail Status: Discontinued

Principle

ALLEN BRADLEY 1761-NET-ENI receives DF1 serial data from the PLC RS-232 port, encapsulates the serial message into EtherNet/IP packets and transmits them to the Ethernet network. When Ethernet commands come in, it decapsulates the data and converts it back into DF1 serial signals to send to the PLC. ALLEN BRADLEY 1761-NET-ENI acts as a protocol bridge between serial DF1 bus and EtherNet/IP, so legacy controllers can access Ethernet-based monitoring and programming tools without replacing the PLC hardware.

Applications

ALLEN BRADLEY 1761-NET-ENI is used for retrofitting old Allen‑Bradley serial control systems. It is commonly applied in production lines equipped with MicroLogix 1000/1200, SLC 500 and PLC-5, such as packaging equipment, water treatment, chemical and manufacturing machinery. It is used for network transformation, remote monitoring and program upload/download of legacy control cabinets, and it is a common maintenance spare part for serial-to-Ethernet upgrade.
