RELIANCE ELECTRIC 14C57U

Description

RELIANCE ELECTRIC 14C57U

Overview

RELIANCE ELECTRIC 14C57U is a FlexPak Plus non-regenerative DC drive (DC motor speed controller) under Reliance Electric FlexPak+ series. It is a chassis-mounted SCR-based DC controller, rated for 3 HP DC motors, single-phase 230 VAC input. It is widely supplied as exchange spare for extruders, winders, conveyors and machine tool control cabinet overhaul and DC drive replacement.

Features

RELIANCE ELECTRIC 14C57U uses SCR phase-angle rectification to deliver adjustable DC armature voltage for precise speed and torque regulation of shunt-wound DC motors. It supports adjustable speed ramp, current limit, IR compensation and field weakening settings for stable performance across variable load conditions. It includes built-in armature current monitoring to suppress high inrush current during startup.

RELIANCE ELECTRIC 14C57U integrates basic protection functions including overcurrent, SCR overheat and loss of field detection. It accepts 0–10V analog speed reference signal from potentiometer, PLC or external controller, and provides relay alarm outputs for fault status signaling. Parameter tuning and fault diagnostics are completed via onboard trim pots and supporting Reliance service tools. It follows UL and EMC standards for open-frame cabinet installation with IP20 rating.

Specs

RELIANCE ELECTRIC 14C57UPlatform: Reliance Electric FlexPak Plus Type: SCR non-regenerative DC drive Catalog number: 14C57U Motor rating: 3 HP DC motor Input: 1-phase 230 VAC, 50/60 Hz Output: adjustable DC armature voltage Control reference: 0–10 VDC analog speed signal Protection: overcurrent, SCR overtemperature, field loss Mounting: chassis open frame Protection rating: IP20 This is a complete DC speed controller, not an AC VFD, contactor or soft starter. RELIANCE ELECTRIC 14C57U is widely supplied as service replacement spare for DC motor speed control loop failure.

Principle

RELIANCE ELECTRIC 14C57U rectifies single-phase AC power by controlling SCR firing angle to produce variable DC voltage supplied to the motor armature. The drive compares actual motor speed feedback against the reference setpoint and adjusts firing angle to maintain target speed. Current and temperature sensing circuits continuously supervise the power stage. When fault conditions exceed thresholds, the unit blocks SCR firing and activates alarm contacts.

Applications

RELIANCE ELECTRIC 14C57U is deployed for web winders, extruder feed drives, machine tool spindles and material handling conveyors in plastics, textile and metal processing plants. It is selected for spare inventory and machine control cabinet retrofit projects for existing FlexPak Plus DC drive systems.
