Description
AAEON ECB-641 Rev.A1
Overview
AAEON ECB-641 Rev.A1 is a legacy half-size PICMG 1.0 industrial CPU card from AAEON, designed for industrial rack-mount single-board computer systems. Rev.A1 denotes the hardware layout, component placement and BIOS revision of this board. It integrates onboard CPU, memory, graphics and multi I/O interfaces for industrial HMI, CNC, test station and legacy automation control cabinets. AAEON ECB-641 Rev.A1 is end-of-life hardware, widely supplied as exchange spare for industrial PC cabinet overhaul and legacy equipment replacement.
Features
AAEON ECB-641 Rev.A1 adopts PICMG 1.0 passive backplane architecture, which separates the CPU card from the backplane, allowing convenient hot-swap-like board replacement without rewiring the peripheral cables. It carries onboard LVDS interface for direct connection to industrial flat panels, plus VGA output for external monitor display. AAEON ECB-641 Rev.A1 is equipped with an ISA slot edge connector, supporting legacy ISA expansion cards that are still common in older machine control, motion control and data acquisition systems. It provides multiple RS232 serial ports, IDE storage interface, USB ports and audio circuits for connecting sensors, barcode readers, old storage drives and operator peripherals. AAEON ECB-641 Rev.A1 has integrated watchdog timer function for automatic system reset when software crash or program hang occurs, improving stability for unattended industrial applications. It supports industrial operating systems including legacy Windows versions and DOS, and is configured via BIOS setup for display, serial port and boot order settings. It complies with CE and FCC standards for industrial cabinet installation.
Specs
AAEON ECB-641 Rev.A1 Form factor: half-size PICMG 1.0 CPU card. Revision: Rev.A1. Display: VGA + LVDS. Expansion bus: ISA interface. Storage: IDE. Serial: multiple RS232 COM ports. Watchdog timer: supported. Mounting: plug into PICMG passive backplane. This is not a passive backplane; it is the active CPU controller card. AAEON ECB-641 Rev.A1 is widely supplied as service replacement spare for aging industrial workstations.
Principle
AAEON ECB-641 Rev.A1 receives power and bus signals through the PICMG edge connector from the passive backplane. The onboard CPU runs the industrial application software, handles display rendering, serial data communication and discrete IBT signal exchange with peripheral boards. The ISA bus on AAEON ECB-641 Rev.A1 transmits low-speed control signals to legacy expansion modules. If the watchdog timer is not refreshed by application software within the preset time window, the board triggers a hardware reset to recover the industrial operating system. Runtime status and fault information can be viewed on the HMI or logged by the host application.
Applications
AAEON ECB-641 Rev.A1 is deployed for old CNC controllers, printing machines, packaging equipment, semiconductor test handlers and factory HMI stations relying on ISA expansion cards. It is selected for spare inventory and cabinet retrofit projects for existing PICMG 1.0 half-size SBC platforms. Modern replacement platforms are AAEON PICMG 1.3 and 3.5-inch single board computers.
