Description

WTC (Welding Technology Corp) 917-0233VR

Overview

WTC 917-0233VR is a replacement printed circuit board assembly for legacy WTC MedWeld / MFDC medium-frequency direct current resistance welding control systems. The suffix “VR” denotes the revision variant of this board, used inside spot, projection and robotic weld controller cabinets widely adopted in automotive body-in-white production lines. WTC 917-0233VR is an end-of-life weld control spare board, widely supplied as exchange spare for resistance welding skid and robot weld gun cabinet overhaul.

Features

WTC 917-0233VR implements core signal conditioning, firing logic or feedback acquisition functions for the WTC weld controller platform. It handles weld current feedback, synchronization signal, interlock inputs and fault flag signals between the main processor board and the SCR/IGBT power stage. WTC 917-0233VR supports real-time monitoring of secondary weld current and voltage signals for adaptive weld algorithms such as RAFT dynamic resistance control. It carries on-board LED diagnostic indicators for quick visual status check during commissioning and troubleshooting. WTC 917-0233VR uses dedicated edge connectors for backplane mounting, with ESD protection on signal circuits. It works with WTC weld schedule storage, current regulation and sequence timing logic, and passes fault status to the weld controller HMI and factory SCADA for event logging. Revision VR defines component layout, firmware and factory test configuration for this assembly.

Specs

WTC 917-0233VR Form: plug-in PCB assembly. Application: WTC MFDC / MedWeld resistance weld control. Function: signal interface / firing / feedback board. Mounting: backplane slot inside weld control cabinet. Power: low-voltage control supply from weld power supply. Compatible with WTC weld programming software and handheld programmer. WTC 917-0233VR is widely supplied as service replacement spare for robotic spot welding control cabinets.

Principle

WTC 917-0233VR receives command setpoints and timing sequence from the weld CPU board, then outputs synchronized firing signals to the power switching stage. It samples secondary current and voltage signals from the welding transformer feedback loop, converts analog signals into digital values and sends them back to the main controller for closed-loop weld current regulation. If overcurrent, loss of feedback, sync loss or hardware anomaly occurs, the board triggers an immediate inhibit signal to stop weld firing and latch a fault code. The weld controller of WTC 917-0233VR records timestamped fault data for quality traceability.

Applications

WTC 917-0233VR is deployed on robotic spot welding cells, projection welding stations and aluminum welding skids in automotive manufacturing plants. It is selected for spare inventory and cabinet retrofit projects for legacy WTC MFDC resistance welding controls. Modern replacement platform is WTC WT6000 inverter weld control family.
