Bentley 3300XL Series Detailed Product Description
I. Product Overview
The Bentley 3300XL is a high-performance eddy current sensor system under the Bently Nevada division of Baker Hughes, designed specifically for the condition monitoring and protection of large rotating machinery. It is an industry-leading non-contact measurement solution that strictly adheres to the API 670 standard. The complete system consists of a probe, an extension cable, and a preamplifier, and is used to monitor the shaft vibration, axial displacement, differential expansion, shaft eccentricity, and keyway signals of rotating machinery. It is widely applied in steam turbines, gas turbines, centrifugal compressors, generators, large pumps and fans, and other critical equipment in the power, petrochemical, metallurgical, and gas turbine industries, providing continuous online monitoring, fault diagnosis, and safety protection functions to ensure the long-term safe operation of the equipment.
II. Series Composition and Model System
(1) System Composition
Each 3300XL system is a "three-in-one" structure, with components that are fully interchangeable and do not require separate calibration, plug-and-play:
Probe (Probe): The core of sensing, close to the metal shaft, collecting gap change signals;
Extension Cable (Extension Cable): Connects the probe and the preamplifier to achieve long-distance signal transmission;
Preamplifier (Proximitor Sensor): Signal conditioning unit, amplifies and linearizes the probe signal, and outputs a standard negative voltage signal.
(2) Main Specifications Classification (by probe size)
8mm System (Most Common): Model 330101/02/03/04 (Probe), 330130 (Cable), 330100 (Preamplifier); Linear range 0.25 - 2.3mm, sensitivity 7.87V/mm, suitable for small and medium-sized rotating machinery.
11mm System: Linear range 0.5 - 4.5mm, sensitivity 3.94V/mm, suitable for medium-sized and large equipment, with a larger range.
25mm System: Linear range up to 12.7mm, used for large unit's large displacement monitoring.
50mm System: Linear range 27.9mm, specifically for differential expansion (DE) and rotor expansion (RX) measurement of large steam turbines.
High Temperature Special System (HTPS): Probe with the highest temperature resistance of +350°C, suitable for measurement in the high-temperature sections of gas turbines and steam turbines.
(3) Model Coding Rules (Taking 330100-XX-XX as an example)
330100: 3300XL Series 8mm Standard Preamplifier;
The first two digits (XX): Total cable length of the system (probe + cable), such as 50 = 5.0m, 10 = 1.0m;
The last two digits (XX): Certification and configuration, 00 = basic model, 03 = CE certification, 05 = CE + explosion-proof certification.
III. Working Principle
Based on the high-frequency eddy current effect for non-contact measurement:
The oscillator inside the preamplifier generates high-frequency alternating current, which is transmitted through the cable to the probe coil;
When the probe is close to the metal shaft, the shaft surface induces eddy currents, which reverse and change the inductance and impedance of the probe coil;
The preamplifier captures the impedance change, amplifies, demodulates, and linearizes it, outputting a linear negative voltage signal proportional to the probe - shaft gap (such as the typical output of the 8mm system is -1 to -17VDC);
It can simultaneously measure static gap (displacement/position) and dynamic vibration, unaffected by oil, water vapor, dust, and oil contamination, suitable for harsh industrial environments.
