I. Product Overview
The Bentley 330101-00-08-10-02-00 is a 8mm eddy current proximity probe of the Bently Nevada 3300 XL series under Baker Hughes. It strictly follows the API 670 industry standard and is the core sensing component of the rotating machinery condition monitoring system. The product adopts a non-contact measurement method and is mainly used for radial vibration, axial displacement, shaft eccentricity, phase detection and rotational speed signal monitoring of industrial large rotating equipment. It is widely applied in power, petrochemical, metallurgy, general machinery and other industries, providing stable and reliable detection data for online equipment monitoring, fault early warning, over-limit alarm and safety interlock protection.
II. Model Code Interpretation
330101 is the base model, representing the 3300 XL series standard 8mm eddy current probe, equipped with 3/8-24 UNF external thread, and the overall structure is without armor. Code 00 represents the standard non-threaded installation length, suitable for conventional industrial installation bases. Code 08 indicates that the total length of the probe housing is 0.8 inches, belonging to an extremely short housing design, specifically suitable for installation conditions with extremely limited space and installation depth restrictions. Code 10 indicates that the built-in cable length of the probe is 1.0 meters, the cable has no armor, and the wiring is flexible on-site. Code 02 represents the configuration of a miniature coaxial ClickLoc quick connector, which is convenient for disassembly, has a tight connection and strong vibration resistance. The last code 00 indicates that the product does not come with explosion-proof certification, and is only applicable to conventional non-flammable and non-explosive industrial environments.
III. Working Principle
The product conducts measurement based on the eddy current effect. The coil inside the probe is supplied with high-frequency alternating current, generating an alternating magnetic field. When the probe approaches the metal measured shaft, the metal surface will induce eddy currents, and the reverse magnetic field formed by the eddy currents will change the inductance and impedance of the probe coil. The 3300 XL preamplifier can accurately capture this electrical parameter change and linearly convert it into a standard negative voltage analog signal. The signal value is in correspondence with the gap between the probe and the shaft. The non-contact measurement form is not affected by media such as water vapor, oil stains and dust in the field, and can operate continuously and stably for a long time.

The probe housing is made of AISI 303/304 stainless steel, with high mechanical strength and good corrosion resistance; the probe tip is made of polyphenylene sulfide, having both high-temperature resistance and insulation properties; the cable insulation layer is FEP fluorinated ethylene propylene material, resistant to oil, aging, and with excellent flexibility. The overall protection level of the machine is IP65, with good dust and water resistance. The product has CE and UL regular safety certifications, but no explosion-proof qualification. The probes, extension cables, and preamplifiers of the same series can be fully interchangeable without the need for separate pairing and calibration.
V. Mechanical Structure and Product Advantages
(1) Mechanical Structure
The probe adopts the industry-standard 3/8-24 UNF external thread, which can be matched with various standard mounting bases. Combined with anti-loosening nuts, it can effectively resist the vibration of equipment operation and prevent the probe from loosening and shifting. The 0.8-inch extremely short housing design significantly reduces the installation space occupation, making it an ideal accessory for narrow cavities and compact equipment structures. The probe comes with a 1-meter unarmored cable, and the minimum bending radius of the cable is no less than 5 times its own diameter. The wiring method is flexible. The end of the cable is equipped with a ClickLoc micro coaxial quick connector, which is simple to plug and unplug, stable in connection, has excellent anti-vibration performance, and is convenient for on-site maintenance and component replacement.
(2) Core Advantages
The product has high measurement accuracy, small temperature drift, stable long-term operation data, and can accurately capture the tiny vibrations and displacement changes of the rotating shaft. An electromagnetic shielding structure is installed inside, which can effectively resist electromagnetic interference generated by frequency converters and high-power motors, and is suitable for complex industrial electromagnetic environments. The extremely short housing combined with standard-length cables meets the requirements of narrow space installation while ensuring the flexibility of wiring, and is applicable to a wide range of scenarios. The series components are interchangeable, with unified spare parts specifications, effectively reducing inventory management and on-site maintenance costs. Non-contact measurement does not wear the measured shaft, combined with the IP65 protection level, the overall service life of the product is long, and the operating reliability is high.
VI. System Composition and Equipment Compatibility
This probe cannot be used alone. The complete measurement system must be combined with the same series extension cables and 3300 XL preamplifier to work. When using, it is necessary to ensure that the total length of the probe's built-in cable and the extension cable is consistent with the calibration length of the preamplifier. Otherwise, it will affect the measurement accuracy. The product is fully compatible with the 3300 series and 3500 series monitoring frames of Benelli. The output analog signal can be directly connected to mainstream industrial control systems such as DCS and PLC, and supports static position measurement and dynamic vibration measurement, enabling real-time data display, over-limit alarm, and unit safety interlock functions.
VII. Typical Application Scenarios
In the power industry, it is applied to steam turbines, gas turbines, power generation units, feedwater pumps, exhaust fans, and supply fans, etc., of main equipment and large auxiliary equipment; in the petrochemical industry, it is used for centrifugal compressors, process pump groups, etc., of rotating power equipment, and can only be used in non-explosion-proof areas; in the metallurgical and general industrial fields, it is suitable for large drive motors, fans, gearboxes, and high-speed rotating equipment. The main monitored parameters include radial vibration of the shaft, axial displacement, and shaft eccentricity. It can also be combined with the system to collect key signals to achieve equipment speed monitoring.
VIII. Installation and Maintenance Specifications
During on-site installation, adjust the static gap between the probe and the measured shaft to 1.27 mm, corresponding to an output voltage of -9VDC. Do not allow the probe to come into direct contact with the shaft to avoid friction damage to the probe. After tightening the threads, be sure to tighten the anti-loosening nut to prevent the probe from shifting due to vibration. Cable laying should be away from high-voltage lines and large-power electrical equipment to reduce electromagnetic interference. The bending angle of the cable should not be less than the specified bending radius. The total cable length of the system must not be changed arbitrarily and must be consistent with the calibration parameters of the preamplifier.
In daily use, it is recommended to conduct an annual accuracy calibration to ensure the accuracy of the detection data. If there are signal fluctuations or abnormal values, first check the connection status of the connector, whether the cable is damaged, and confirm whether the environmental temperature is within the rated range. Regularly clean the oil stains and dust at the tip of the probe to avoid foreign matter accumulation that interferes with normal measurement.
IX. Usage Precautions Use the product strictly within the rated temperature range. Do not forcefully impact or bend the probe body. Prevent damage to the internal coil. This model does not have explosion-proof certification. Installation and use are strictly prohibited in flammable and explosive hazardous areas. It is recommended to use in conjunction with the original components provided by BENELLI. Mixing with non-original accessories may cause measurement errors and system failures. Avoid immersing the probe in strong corrosive media for a long time. In harsh working conditions with high corrosion and high dust, the inspection frequency should be appropriately increased.
