Description

1. General Description

This is a compact three-phase inverter from SEW-EURODRIVE MOVIDRIVE compact series with a rated power of 1.5 kW. It adopts sensorless vector control for standard asynchronous motors. The drive is fitted with onboard PROFIBUS-DP interface and integrated Class A EMC filter. A built-in brake chopper enables 4-quadrant operation, making it suitable for various industrial speed regulation scenarios.

2. Model Code Explanation

MCF represents MOVIDRIVE compact series with sensorless vector control and no encoder support. The code 41 stands for integrated PROFIBUS-DP communication function. A indicates the product version. 0015 means the rated power is 1.5 kW. The digit 5 refers to 3-phase 380–500 V AC input voltage. Letter A means the unit is equipped with built-in Class A EMC filter. The digit 3 stands for three-phase power input. Digit 4 denotes 4-quadrant operation and integrated brake chopper. 00 is the standard configuration without STO safety function and expansion slots.

3. Electrical Specifications

The input voltage is 3-phase 380–500 V AC with a tolerance of ±10%, and the input frequency is 50 Hz or 60 Hz. The rated input current is 3.6 A.
The rated output power is 1.5 kW, with apparent power of 2.8 kVA and rated output current of 4.0 A. The output voltage ranges from 0 to 480 V AC, and the output frequency ranges from 0 to 600 Hz. The drive can operate continuously at 125% of rated current, and withstand 150% of rated current for 60 seconds.
It supports two control modes, including V/f control and sensorless vector control. Sensorless vector control provides reliable high torque output at low speed.

4. Communication and EMC Performance

Onboard PROFIBUS-DP interface is available for industrial fieldbus connection. The integrated Class A EMC filter effectively suppresses electromagnetic interference and meets relevant industrial EMC standards.

5. Mechanical and Environmental Parameters

The protection class is IP20, and the device shall be installed inside control cabinets only. It uses forced air cooling. The overall dimensions are 70 mm × 185 mm × 165 mm, and the weight is approximately 1.4 kg.
The operating ambient temperature ranges from -10 °C to +50 °C. Power derating is required when the temperature exceeds 50 °C. When the installation altitude is above 1000 meters, derate the power by 1% per 100 meters, and the maximum applicable altitude is 2000 meters. This product is certified with CE, UL, cUL and RoHS.

6. I/O and Protection Functions

The inverter is equipped with 6 digital inputs, 2 digital outputs, 1 relay output and 1 analog input compatible with 0–10 V and 4–20 mA signals. It supports TF, PTC and TH motor temperature sensors for real-time motor temperature monitoring.
Comprehensive protection functions are built in, covering overcurrent, overvoltage, undervoltage, overtemperature, motor overload, short circuit and earth fault protection to guarantee safe and stable operation.

7. Main Features

The compact design saves installation space in control cabinets. The internal brake chopper supports 4-quadrant operation to cope with inertial and regenerative loads. PROFIBUS-DP interface allows easy connection with PLC and other automation equipment. The built-in EMC filter removes the need for additional external filtering components. Sensorless vector control ensures excellent low-speed torque performance. Multiple protection functions prevent equipment damage caused by abnormal working conditions.

8. Applications

This inverter is used to drive 1.5 kW three-phase asynchronous motors. It is widely applied to small conveyors, fans, water pumps, packaging machinery and other general industrial equipment which require PROFIBUS communication and high electromagnetic interference suppression capability.
