The KEBA DO272/A is a 14-channel digital output module from the Austrian KEBA Kemro K2-200 series. It is specifically designed for industrial automation control systems, used to convert controller instructions into on-site switch signals, and to drive actuators such as solenoid valves, relays, contactors, and indicator lights. The module is installed in a standard rack and powered by the K-bus bus, featuring optical isolation, 2A drive per channel, short-circuit/overload protection, hot-swappable components, and other industrial-grade characteristics. It is widely used in equipment such as injection molding machines, die-casting machines, machine tools, and automated production lines, and is one of the cost-effective output modules in the KEBA control system. 


II. Core Functions

14 Independent Digital Outputs

Integrated 14 channels, each channel can be independently switched and controlled, outputting 24V DC signals, suitable for NPN/PNP type loads, capable of directly driving solenoid valves, hydraulic valves, relay coils, indicator lights, buzzers, small contactors, etc. as actuating elements.

Electrical Isolation Anti-interference

Optical isolation between the output side and the system side, blocking ground loop interference, effectively suppressing electromagnetic noise generated by frequency converters and motors, avoiding misoperations, suitable for strong interference workshop environments, ensuring stable control.

Single-channel 2A High Drive Capacity

Each channel has a maximum output current of 2A, meeting the needs of most solenoid valves and small motor control; with permanent short-circuit protection, short-circuit occurs and the module is automatically shut down and faults are reported, protecting the module and the circuit.

Channel Status LED Indication

Each channel is equipped with an independent orange LED, which lights up when outputting ON, goes off when OFF; when there is a fault (short circuit / overload), it flashes quickly, providing intuitive and efficient on-site debugging and fault location.

Bus Plug-and-Play and Hot Swap

Compatible with KEBA's dedicated K-bus backplane bus, plug-and-play, automatic identification, no complex configuration required; supports hot swapping, without downtime to replace modules, reducing maintenance downtime.

Multiple Electrical Protection

Integrated overvoltage, reverse polarity, overcurrent, short circuit, overheat protection, capable of withstanding incorrect wiring and voltage fluctuations in the field, less prone to damage, high reliability.

Capable of Handling Inductive Loads

Built-in fast disconnection circuit for inductive loads, capable of quickly releasing the reverse electromotive force of solenoid valves and relay coils, shortening the disconnection time, reducing contact burnout, improving response and lifespan.

VII. Typical Application Scenarios

Injection machinery: drive injection / melting electromagnetic valves, locking / unlocking valves, pinching valves, heating contactors, alarm indicator lights.

Die-casting / hydraulic equipment: control injection cylinders, booster cylinders, ejector valves, cooling valves, hydraulic pumps start-stop.

Machine tools and machining centers: drive cooling pumps, lubrication pumps, spindle start-stop, tool changing electromagnetic valves, travel indicator lights.

Automation assembly line: control conveyor belt start-stop, blocking cylinder, sorting electromagnetic valves, workstation indicator lights, buzzer.

General industrial control: 24V DC relays, contactors, small motors, indicator lights, alarmers and other switchable load drivers.

VI. Installation and Wiring

1. Installation Steps

When the power is off, align the module with the K2-200 backplane slot and push it in steadily until the latch locks, ensuring good contact of the K-bus bus.

Before powering on, check that it is firmly fixed and not loose; confirm that the 24V DC/5V DC power supply on the backplane is normal.

Support hot swapping: can be directly plugged and replaced during operation without stopping.

2. Wiring Specifications

Power: provided by the K-bus bus at 24V DC (output side) and 5V DC (system side), no external power supply required.

Output Wiring:

Each output terminal (O1–O14) connects to the positive pole of the load, and the negative pole of the load connects to 24V DC 0V (common terminal).

When the load is inductive (electromagnetic valves / relays), it is recommended to parallel a shunt diode (1N4007) to protect the module.

Wire diameter: 0.5–1.5mm² multi-strand copper wire, tighten the terminals to avoid loose connections; separate strong and weak current wiring to reduce interference.

3. Debugging and Fault Troubleshooting

Normal state: when the output is ON, the corresponding LED is always on; when OFF, it goes off.

No output: check the K-bus bus connection, backplane power supply, output terminal wiring, and whether the load is intact.

LED flashing (fault): corresponding channel short circuit / overload, immediately power off to troubleshoot the load and lines, and after eliminating the fault, restart.

Signal jitter / incorrect operation: check if the grounding is good, if the lines are subject to strong interference, and if inductive loads are equipped with a shunt diode.
