Overview

The PEPPERL+FUCHS RL27-55/40B/48/112 is a polarization-filtered retroreflective photoelectric sensor from Pepperl+Fuchs RL27 series, part number 421574S. It uses modulated visible red light and works with a matching reflector C110-2. The maximum sensing range reaches 16 m. The polarization filter suppresses false reflection from shiny surfaces, so it can detect partially transparent objects such as plastic films, PET bottles and shrink wrap. Principle

The PEPPERL+FUCHS RL27-55/40B/48/112 emits polarized red light to the reflector. The reflected light passes the polarization filter back to the receiver. When an object breaks the beam, the receiver signal drops and the sensor switches. The built-in stability monitor continuously checks signal reserve and triggers an alarm when the signal margin is insufficient caused by dirt or misalignment.
