Overview

The SQUARE D NW16L is a high-current air circuit breaker from the Schneider Masterpact NW series under the Square D brand. The SQUARE D NW16L has a 1600A frame size and is used for main incoming, bus tie and generator outgoing feeders in low‑voltage power distribution systems. The SQUARE D NW16L works with interchangeable Micrologic electronic trip units to deliver adjustable protection curves, electrical metering and fault event logging. Features

Principle

The SQUARE D NW16L samples three‑phase current signals via internal current sensors and sends measured data to the Micrologic trip unit. The trip unit compares the electrical values with preset protection thresholds. When overload, short‑circuit or earth fault is detected, the SQUARE D NW16L activates the operating mechanism to open the main contacts and isolate the faulty circuit. Fault records and timestamps are stored for later troubleshooting.
