Overview

The GE GSTR400AS is an EntelliGuard electronic trip unit designed for GE low voltage air circuit breakers. The GE GSTR400AS provides selective protection, electrical metering and event recording for low voltage distribution feeders, generator circuits and bus tie applications. As a discontinued legacy trip unit, the GE GSTR400AS is widely kept as spare part for maintenance and retrofit of existing GE switchgear systems. The GE GSTR400AS supports adjustable protection curves to achieve proper coordination within the power distribution network.

Features

The GE GSTR400AS integrates long time overload, short time delay, instantaneous short-circuit and optional earth fault protection functions. Principle

The GE GSTR400AS receives secondary current signals from the built-in current sensors of the circuit breaker. The internal microprocessor calculates effective electrical values and compares measured data with preset protection thresholds. When overload, short-circuit or earth fault is detected, the GE GSTR400AS sends a trip command to the breaker operating mechanism to disconnect the faulty circuit. All trip information and electrical parameters are saved into the on-board memory for inspection and troubleshooting.
