WARTSILA ESM-10 ENGINE SAFETY MODULE

WARTSILA ESM-10 ENGINE SAFETY MODULE is a rack-mounted safety protection board for Wärtsilä UNIC marine engine automation systems, developed together with Dr. E. Horn GmbH, widely used for Wärtsilä 38 series and other medium-speed marine diesel and dual-fuel propulsion engines and gensets. The engine safety module continuously monitors critical engine parameters including redundant shaft overspeed, lube oil pressure, HT cooling water temperature, exhaust gas temperature and external emergency shutdown signals. The engine safety module executes independent hardwired shutdown logic, and triggers trip solenoid outputs to cut fuel supply when dangerous engine operating conditions are detected. The engine safety module supports wire-break detection for sensor circuits, captures shutdown events and transmits alarm data to LDU local display unit, MCM main control module and bridge monitoring system via CAN bus. The engine safety module adopts vessel-specific embedded firmware and has triple internal fuse protection for power, logic and analog signal loops.

WARTSILA ESM-10 adopts conformal coated PCB and heavy-duty metal housing for installation inside engine room control cabinets. The marine safety processor board runs on 24VDC marine power supply and supports redundant power feed to maintain safety protection under single power loss. The marine safety processor board has LED status indicators for power supply, bus communication and fault alarm for rapid on-site troubleshooting. The marine safety processor board has galvanic isolation for analog and digital field wiring to suppress electrical noise interference from ship power networks. The marine safety processor board is physically and electrically separated from MCM main engine controller to preserve independent safety trip function, complying with marine classification society requirements for machinery safety loops. The marine safety processor board undergoes full environmental testing to withstand shock, vibration, high humidity and wide temperature fluctuation in engine room environments.

WARTSILA ESM-10 is widely deployed on cargo ships, tankers and offshore vessels with Wärtsilä UNIC engine control systems for main propulsion and auxiliary generator emergency shutdown protection.
