AN-X-PB2

Model: AN-X-PB2 (ProSoft Technology) Function: DIN‑rail, bidirectional protocol gateway EtherNet/IP ↔ PROFIBUS DP Purpose: Lets Allen‑Bradley EtherNet/IP PLCs (ControlLogix/CompactLogix) connect, monitor, and control PROFIBUS DP slave devices without replacing existing field I/O.

Description

1. Product Overview

  • Model: AN-X-PB2 (ProSoft Technology)

  • Function: DIN‑rail, bidirectional protocol gateway

    • EtherNet/IP ↔ PROFIBUS DP

  • Purpose: Lets Allen‑Bradley EtherNet/IP PLCs (ControlLogix/CompactLogix)

connect, monitor, and control PROFIBUS DP slave devices without replacing existing field I/O.

2. Key Features

EtherNet/IP Side

  • 10/100 Mbps Ethernet (RJ45)

  • Up to 15 scheduled connections

  • RPI: 2–750 ms

  • Data mapped directly to RSLogix 5000 tags

  • Explicit messaging supported

PROFIBUS DP Side

  • DP‑V0/V1 Master (slave mode optional)

  • Supports up to 31 PROFIBUS DP slaves

  • Baud rate: 9.6 kbps – 12 Mbps

  • Data size:

    • Input: up to 500 words

    • Output: up to 248 words

  • Standard PROFIBUS cable, terminal block

General

  • Embedded web server (config via browser)

  • MicroSD slot: backup/restore config, firmware update

  • Operating modes: Master (MAS), Slave (SLV), Monitor (MON)

  • Industrial temp: 0°C to +50°C

  • Certifications: CE, UL, RoHS

3. Specifications

Power

  • 12–24 VDC, 100 mA @ 24 VDC, ≤ 2.4 W

Physical

  • 35 mm DIN rail, approx. 110 × 75 × 40 mm, IP30

Interfaces

  • Ethernet: 10/100 Mbps, RJ45

  • PROFIBUS DP: terminal block (shielded cable required)

4. LED Indicators

  • PWR: solid = power OK

  • NET: flashing = EtherNet/IP active

  • PB: flashing = PROFIBUS DP active

  • STS: system status

  • ERR: on = fault (comm/config)

5. Installation & Wiring

  1. Mount on DIN rail in cabinet.

  2. Connect 12–24 VDC (observe polarity).

  3. Connect Ethernet to EtherNet/IP controller network.

  4. Wire PROFIBUS DP bus to terminal block:

    • Use shielded twisted pair

    • Terminate bus at both ends (120 Ω)

  5. Set gateway IP via web (default: 192.168.1.100).

  6. Scan PROFIBUS slaves, map I/O to EtherNet/IP tags.

  7. Save config and reboot.

6. Operating Modes

  • Master (MAS): full DP master, polls slaves, controls I/O

  • Slave (SLV): acts as DP slave to a higher‑level DP master

  • Monitor (MON): listen‑only, diagnose DP traffic

7. Application

  • Integrate PROFIBUS DP devices into EtherNet/IP systems

  • Migrate legacy PROFIBUS systems to Rockwell Automation platforms

  • Process industries: manufacturing, automotive, water/wastewater, energy

8. Safety Notes

  • Wiring only when powered off

  • Use shielded cable for PROFIBUS DP; proper grounding

  • Bus termination must be correct (120 Ω at both ends)

  • Avoid high humidity, dust, strong EMI

  • Installation/configuration by qualified personnel
