Overview

The OMRON F3S-B242P-L is a Type 4 safety light curtain from the legacy F3S-B series, 24 optical beams, 25mm beam pitch, 600mm protective height. It has a sensing range of 0.3–5m, detects objects ≥30mm diameter, widely stocked as spare for machine safety guarding.

Features This F3S-B unit provides solid-state safety output for machine stop interlock. The F3S-B242P-L supports mutual interference prevention, built-in diagnostic monitoring for emitter/receiver faults, and LED status indicators. It is a discontinued Omron safety light curtain, succeeded by F3SJ series.

Principle

The emitter sends infrared beams to the receiver. When any beam is blocked, the safety output switches off to trigger the machine safety stop circuit. Continuous self-check detects optical failure and triggers safe state.

Applications

The F3S-B242P-L is widely deployed on stamping presses, injection molding machines, assembly and packaging machinery. It is used for hand and body protection for hazardous machine access zones.
