GE XMT868 Ultrasonic Flow Transmitter

GE XMT868 is a high-performance wall-mounted ultrasonic flow transmitter under GE Panametrics brand. It works with external flow sensors to process ultrasonic echo signals, compute medium flow data and output standard industrial signals for process monitoring and system control.

Description

  • Core Function & Electrical Performance

This transmitter unit receives raw ultrasonic waveform signals from paired clamp-on or insertion transducers. Internal high-speed signal processing circuits filter background noise brought by pipeline vibration, medium impurities and site electromagnetic interference. It calculates volumetric flow, mass flow, flow velocity and cumulative flow according to ultrasonic time-difference measurement principle. Multiple standard signal output modes are configured, including 4–20mA analog signal, pulse output and digital communication interfaces. Compatible with Modbus protocol for data upload to PLC, DCS and centralized monitoring host. Every unit is calibrated strictly at factory to ensure measurement linearity and measurement accuracy within the rated flow range of liquid media. Long-term operation features low zero drift, which reduces frequent on-site recalibration workload.

  • Structural Design & Environmental Adaptability

The main casing adopts industrial sealed housing design with dustproof and moisture-proof structure, suitable for indoor control rooms and outdoor field installation environments. The internal circuit board undergoes aging screening and anti-corrosion coating treatment to adapt to high humidity, temperature fluctuation and slightly corrosive ambient air in chemical plants, power stations and waterworks. The equipment has excellent EMC performance to resist interference from inverters, motors and high-power electrical equipment nearby. The panel is equipped with digital display and function keys for parameter setting, data viewing and fault diagnosis. The wiring terminals adopt locking structure to prevent poor contact caused by vibration in long-term operation. The overall structure is compact, easy to install on standard electrical cabinet guide rails or wall surfaces.

  • Matching Parts & Application Fields

Matched with Panametrics series ultrasonic flow probes, it forms a complete non-intrusive flow measurement system. Widely used in petroleum and natural gas transportation pipelines, thermal power circulating water monitoring, chemical process pipeline flow detection, municipal water supply and drainage measurement, metallurgical cooling water monitoring and food pharmaceutical fluid pipeline measurement. Clamp-on installation mode does not need pipeline cutting and shutdown construction during equipment commissioning and replacement, effectively lowering construction cost and production shutdown loss. It supports real-time flow monitoring, flow totalization statistics and abnormal flow alarm output to meet the management requirements of industrial production process data statistics and safety interlock.

  • Operation Stability & Maintenance Characteristics

Built-in fault self-diagnosis function, which can identify transducer abnormal connection, signal attenuation and internal circuit abnormality, and feed back fault codes through the display screen for quick troubleshooting. It supports parameter data power-off storage to avoid configuration information loss after unexpected power failure. The original circuit layout and electronic components guarantee long service life and stable operation under continuous working conditions. Daily maintenance only needs regular inspection of wiring tightness and equipment operating status, with low maintenance difficulty and operating cost for enterprises. Using original GE transmitters can avoid measurement errors and system hidden dangers caused by incompatible generic products.
