GE Model 26 Ultrasonic General Purpose Clamp-On Transducer

GE 26 is a standard universal clamp-on ultrasonic transducer from GE Panametrics. It matches fixed transmitters and portable flowmeters to achieve accurate liquid flow measurement for conventional clean industrial pipelines with moderate wall thickness.

Description

GE 26 is a cost-effective mainstream sensing unit of GE M-series clamp-on ultrasonic transducer family, widely deployed for conventional liquid measurement working conditions without heavy scaling, corrosion or ultra-high temperature interference. Designed with a medium-frequency piezoelectric chip, the component strikes a perfect balance between ultrasonic response sensitivity and basic wall penetration capability, being the most widely used standard probe for routine flow metering projects.
Built-in matched acoustic matching layer and damping structure optimize ultrasonic transmission efficiency when the sound wave penetrates common pipe walls such as carbon steel, stainless steel, PVC and cast iron. For clean circulating water, chilled water and low-viscosity process fluid pipelines, the sensor can capture clear and stable upstream and downstream echo signals steadily, effectively avoiding data jitter caused by mild pipeline vibration and slight flow turbulence inside pipes.
The probe outer shell adopts fully sealed industrial encapsulation process and reaches IP65 protection rating, capable of resisting dust accumulation, water droplet splashing and humid ambient conditions inside pump rooms, factory pipe trenches and indoor instrument areas. The internal signal wire adopts single-layer dense copper braided shielding, which filters most conventional electromagnetic interference generated by water pumps, low-power frequency converters and power distribution cabinets on site, maintaining stable waveform transmission in conventional factory electromagnetic environments.
The contact surface of the transducer is made of wear-resistant composite material, which can withstand long-term clamping pressure brought by mounting fixtures like 95C2001 and P1392. Frequent disassembly and replacement during equipment maintenance will not cause scratches or deformation on the contact surface, ensuring good fitting fit with the outer wall of the pipeline all the time. Cooperated with GE 25998 or 399857-PR coupling grease, the air gap between the probe and the pipeline is eliminated, and the sound conduction loss is minimized.
This transducer supports two application modes: long-term online measurement paired with XMT868, UTX878 fixed ultrasonic transmitters, and temporary field inspection matched with GE 8500 portable ultrasonic flowmeter. The standard built-in connector is compatible with the original 710-1247 shielded signal cable, realizing plug-and-play wiring construction and simplifying field wiring work for construction and maintenance personnel. The clamp-on non-intrusive installation method does not require pipeline cutting, drilling or system shutdown during installation and maintenance, bringing zero pressure loss and zero medium pollution risks to the production pipeline system.
Every GE 26 transducer is subject to echo intensity testing, impedance parameter calibration and continuous power aging test before leaving the factory. The unified frequency and sensitivity parameters guarantee the interchangeability of spare parts during on-site replacement. The probe has no internal mechanical moving parts, with extremely low natural failure rate during long-term continuous operation. Daily maintenance work only includes regularly checking the fastening degree of the fixture, checking whether the coupling grease is dry and aging, and confirming the integrity of the cable outer sheath, requiring low manpower and spare parts investment for enterprise operation and maintenance management.
It is extensively applied in building HVAC water system metering, factory cooling water monitoring, municipal general water supply pipelines, food industry process water measurement and ordinary chemical low-viscosity fluid flow statistics. As a basic standard probe product in GE ultrasonic measurement system, it can satisfy most conventional industrial flow monitoring demands while controlling the overall system configuration cost reasonably.
