GE DigitalFlow GF868 Flare Gas Ultrasonic Mass Flow Transmitter
GE DigitalFlow GF868 is a dedicated transit-time ultrasonic flow meter developed by GE Panametrics for flare gas monitoring. It calculates real-time molecular weight and mass flow of mixed flare gas, adapts to unstable, bidirectional and pulsating gas flow in refineries and chemical plants, supporting emission compliance reporting and flare system optimized controlBaker Hugh...
Description
GF868 belongs to GE mature DigitalFlow fixed gas ultrasonic measurement platform, specially customized for complex working conditions of industrial flare pipelines. It adopts proprietary Correlation Transit-Time ultrasonic algorithm combined with high-performance digital signal processing unit, effectively overcoming measurement difficulties caused by gas component fluctuation, pressure pulsation, bidirectional flow, smoke entrainment and temperature variation inside flare headers and flare stacks. The meter supports single-channel or dual-channel layout, one host can complete flow measurement for two independent flare pipelines simultaneously, reducing overall equipment investment for users.
The core embedded algorithm has independent molecular weight calculation function, which can automatically compute the average molecular weight of hydrocarbon mixed gas within 2~120g/mol range without additional gas sampling analysis equipment, and convert volume flow data into accurate mass flow values. The mass flow measurement precision reaches 2.4%~7% (two-path configuration), meeting the data accuracy requirements of environmental emission monitoring, flare steam injection energy saving and pipeline leakage diagnosis. Its ultra-wide turndown ratio up to 4000:1 stably captures tiny leakage flow and large-scale emergency blow-off flow of flare system, with measurable gas velocity ranging from 0.03m/s to 120m/s, applicable to large pipelines with maximum diameter up to 3 meters.
The main control cabinet is equipped with dual independent LCD graphic display screens and 39-key tactile membrane keyboard, which can locally display flow velocity, volumetric flow, mass flow, real-time molecular weight and equipment fault alarm codes. The internal circuit integrates complete fault self-diagnosis logic, and feeds back abnormal conditions such as low signal strength through standardized fault codes to simplify field maintenance and troubleshooting work. The shell has multiple optional structures including epoxy aluminum standard shell, stainless steel shell and explosion-proof flameproof shell, which can be deployed in Zone1 and Zone2 hazardous gas areas with matched explosion-proof accessories and safety barriers, complying with ATEX industrial safety specifications.
Rich industrial communication and signal interfaces are reserved inside the equipment: isolated 4–20mA analog input ports are used to access pipeline pressure and temperature compensation signals; 4–20mA analog output, RS232, RS485 and Modbus TCP Ethernet digital interfaces realize seamless data docking with DCS, SCADA and plant centralized control systems. The built-in data logging function can store historical measurement records for later data review and environmental compliance report filing. It is compatible with GE series gas insertion transducers such as USL-42, matched with original 710-1247 signal cables and 95C2001 installation fixtures to build a complete flare gas metering system.
The whole machine has no internal mechanical moving parts, and the ultrasonic non-contact measurement mode will not produce pipeline pressure loss, with extremely low daily maintenance demand. Each GF868 undergoes factory calibration and long-time aging testing before delivery, with stable long-term continuous operation performance. Main application scenarios cover petrochemical refineries, offshore oil platforms, chemical production devices, waste gas flare discharge monitoring, and realize emission data traceability in response to environmental supervision requirements
