GE M27R Medium Frequency Clamp-On Ultrasonic Liquid Transducer

GE M27R is a standard medium-frequency external clamp-on ultrasonic sensor from GE Panametrics M-series transducer lineup. Matched with XMT868, UTX878 and portable 8500 flow meters, it delivers stable and accurate liquid flow measurement for standard industrial pipelines with moderate wall thickness and slight scaling.

Description

GE M27R is a mainstream general-purpose clamp-on ultrasonic sensing component for liquid transit-time flow measurement. Model definition: M stands for standard M-series ultrasonic transducer platform; 27 represents fixed medium operating frequency tuned for common industrial piping; R stands for standard rugged sealed housing structure. It undertakes ultrasonic signal transmitting and receiving tasks, and transmits echo signals to the DRC-100X signal processing board for flow velocity and total flow calculation by the host main control unit.
The built-in medium-frequency piezoelectric crystal achieves balanced penetration performance and signal response speed. It adapts to carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron and plastic pipelines with conventional wall thickness and mild internal scaling or rust layers, striking a balance between signal penetration ability and measurement response sensitivity compared with low-frequency deep penetration probes and high-frequency precision probes. The internal acoustic matching layer and damping material are strictly calibrated to match pipeline acoustic impedance, lowering ultrasonic energy loss during penetration and improving the stability of echo waveform feedback under normal industrial working conditions.
The contact surface of the transducer uses wear-resistant high-hardness composite material, which resists long-term clamping pressure from P1392 mounting fixtures and repeated disassembly during field maintenance without surface abrasion damage. The whole sealed housing reaches IP65 protection grade, effectively blocking workshop dust, pipeline condensate splashing and weak chemical volatile corrosion in pump rooms, pipe galleries and indoor instrument areas. The built-in multi-layer copper braided shielding wire restrains electromagnetic interference from on-site inverters, high-power motors and power distribution cables, preventing flow value jumping and waveform disorder in complex electromagnetic environments.
This transducer applies the non-intrusive external clamping installation mode. No pipe cutting, drilling or system shutdown is needed during installation and maintenance. It brings zero pipeline pressure loss and zero pollution to process media, fully matching the continuous production demands of industrial facilities. The tail connector is compatible with original shielded cables including 710-1247 and PWO6J8-4S for plug-and-play field wiring deployment. Cooperated with 25998 or 399857-PR acoustic couplant, it eliminates air gaps between the probe and pipe wall to guarantee efficient sound wave conduction.
Every GE M27R transducer undergoes echo amplitude testing, impedance parameter calibration and long-term aging screening before factory delivery to ensure consistent sensitivity and frequency characteristics of each batch of products. There are no mechanical moving consumable parts inside the probe assembly. Daily maintenance only needs regular inspection of coupling state, fixture tightness and cable sheath integrity, with low long-term maintenance workload.
It is widely applied in municipal water supply and drainage metering, thermal power plant circulating water monitoring, factory cooling water pipeline measurement, central heating medium flow detection and general chemical low-viscosity process liquid flow monitoring scenarios. It serves as the most commonly used standard probe for conventional pipeline flow measurement projects, lowering system configuration costs while maintaining reliable measuring performance.
