GE MTS5 Series Dew Point Gas Moisture Transmitter

GE MTS5 is a panel-mount industrial dew point transmitter based on thin-film alumina sensing technology. Paired with GE M-Series moisture probes, it delivers continuous, accurate trace moisture monitoring for high-pressure process gas with built-in signal processing and standard industrial output signals.

Description

The GE MTS5 belongs to GE Panametrics mature fixed online moisture analysis platform, designed to work with MS29, MS32 and all MMS35 insertion dew point probes including MMS35-311-1-100. The unit converts the variable capacitance signal fed back by the alumina sensitive chip into intuitive dew point temperature, ppm moisture and absolute humidity readings through internal high-precision signal conditioning circuits and temperature compensation algorithms. It is widely deployed for permanent gas quality monitoring inside compressor stations, chemical process workshops and utility gas rooms.
The transmitter adopts a standard DIN rail and panel dual installation structure, with a compact metal casing meeting IP65 protection grade for the front operation panel. The embedded digital temperature correction module cooperates with the NTC thermistor built into each M-series probe to automatically offset measurement errors triggered by pipeline temperature swings, effectively suppressing long-term signal drift during uninterrupted 24/7 field operation. Internal hardware is equipped with multi-stage EMI filtering circuits to counteract electromagnetic noise from compressors, variable frequency drives and high-voltage power circuits prevalent in industrial environments.
Standard signal outputs include isolated 4–20mA analog signal and optional RS485 Modbus digital communication interface. Process data can be seamlessly uploaded to DCS, PLC and SCADA centralized control platforms for real-time monitoring, historical data recording and high/low dew point alarm interlock configuration. Local LCD display supports on-site viewing of measured values, probe status, fault diagnosis codes and calibration records without extra handheld devices for routine inspection work.
The internal circuit layout uses industrial-grade electronic components with wide ambient temperature adaptability ranging from -20 °C to +60 °C. Combined with ATEX intrinsic safety certification matching document BAS01ATEX1096X, the MTS5 system can be applied in Zone 1 and Zone 2 explosive hazardous gas areas after being matched with approved safety barriers, satisfying safety compliance requirements for petrochemical, refinery and natural gas industries.
Each MTS5 transmitter completes factory calibration paired with standard NIST-traceable dew point gas sources before shipment. The system allows independent replacement of the Ni2 sensitive core inside the probe instead of whole probe replacement when sensing performance declines, greatly reducing spare parts procurement costs for users. Routine maintenance only includes annual calibration verification and regular cleaning of the probe front filter screen, with extremely low daily maintenance workload and stable long-term operating economy.
Main applicable media cover compressed dry air, natural gas, flare gas, hydrogen, nitrogen, SF6 insulating gas and semiconductor process protective gas. Common application scenarios involve power plant electrical equipment monitoring, air separation plant gas detection, pharmaceutical inert gas protection, natural gas pipeline transmission monitoring and thermal treatment furnace atmosphere control
