GE 399857-PR Ultrasonic Transducer Couplant Gel Refill Package
GE 399857-PR is original industrial-grade acoustic coupling grease specially formulated for GE Panametrics clamp-on ultrasonic sensors. It optimizes ultrasonic wave transmission between probe and pipe outer wall, resisting high temperature, aging and water washout for long-term field flow measurement applications.
Description
GE 399857-PR is an official factory matching consumable accessory for the full series of GE ultrasonic transducers including M9LW, 1200HR, USL-42 and all MTS clamp-on probes. The suffix PR stands for standard packaged retail specification, supplied as sealed tubes for on-site filling and replenishment during transducer installation and routine maintenance. Couplant gel acts as the critical acoustic medium to eliminate air gaps between the transducer contact surface and pipeline outer wall; air gaps will severely reflect ultrasonic signals and cause weak echoes, measurement fluctuation or meter failure.
This coupling compound adopts modified silicone matrix formula with stable acoustic impedance matching carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron and plastic pipeline outer surfaces. It maintains consistent viscosity within a wide working temperature range from -40°C to 200°C, matching the operating temperature of high-temperature probes such as 1200HR without thinning, dripping or carbonization under long-term thermal radiation from hot pipelines. The material features strong anti-drying performance and will not harden or crack after months of outdoor exposure, greatly reducing the frequency of repeated gel supplementation on site.
The gel has excellent water resistance and anti-washout properties. Condensed water, splashing cooling water and humid environment in pump rooms and pipe galleries cannot dissolve or dilute the coupling layer, keeping stable acoustic transmission efficiency for continuous flow monitoring. Meanwhile, it is chemically inert, will not corrode probe protective panels and pipeline outer anti-rust coatings, and is compatible with GE P1392 fixtures and all original probe mounting structures.
It is widely used in the installation and calibration of XMT868, UTX878, AT868 ultrasonic flow systems for municipal water supply, thermal power circulating water, chemical process fluid and heating medium pipelines. During field maintenance work, old dry coupling grease can be wiped off directly, and 399857-PR gel can be evenly coated quickly to restore normal measuring performance of the flow meter without system shutdown. Each batch of products is subjected to acoustic attenuation testing before delivery to guarantee uniform transmission performance.
As a necessary routine maintenance consumable for ultrasonic metering systems, regular replacement of aging couplant effectively avoids inaccurate flow data caused by signal attenuation. The sealed packaging prevents volatilization and deterioration during storage, convenient for workshop spare parts management and field maintenance personnel to carry around. It reduces unplanned inspection work and data deviation faults for industrial online flow monitoring systems, lowering overall operation and maintenance costs for enterprises.
