GE 703-1161 Ultrasonic Standard Calibration Test Block
GE 703-1161 is an official standard reference block for GE ultrasonic testing instruments, used for sensitivity calibration, sound velocity setting and echo verification to guarantee accurate industrial NDT inspection data.
Description
GE 703-1161 is a factory-certified calibration specimen under GE Inspection Technologies NDT supporting series, fully compatible with GE Epoch IIB, Epoch 650 ultrasonic flaw detectors and 1200M ultrasonic thickness gauges, matching most GE original ultrasonic probes. This standard test block is precisely CNC machined from high homogeneity low-carbon steel, with standard stepped thickness values and artificial reflective flat-bottom holes machined strictly in accordance with international ultrasonic testing standards.
Precise dimensional tolerance control ensures stable ultrasonic propagation velocity and fixed echo response values for long-term service. It supports multiple daily calibration items for field inspectors: instrument zero offset adjustment, gain sensitivity correction, DAC/TCG curve establishment, probe incident angle verification and wedge delay calibration. These calibration operations effectively eliminate measurement errors caused by equipment aging, probe surface abrasion and couplant difference during on-site flaw detection and wall thickness measurement work.
The block surface is finely ground and treated with anti-rust passivation process to prevent surface oxidation rust from interfering with ultrasonic wave transmission. The solid integrated steel body has strong shock resistance and anti-deformation capability; accidental dropping and collision in workshops or outdoor inspection sites will not change internal geometric sizes and acoustic characteristics. It adapts to conventional straight beam probes and angle beam probes, covering inspection calibration needs for pressure vessels, boiler tubes, oil & gas pipelines, mechanical castings and structural steel components.
Different from generic calibration blocks on the market, the acoustic attenuation coefficient of GE 703-1161 is consistent with common carbon steel workpieces widely used in industry. The calibrated parameters can be directly applied to actual workpiece detection without secondary data correction. Each product is attached with an original factory inspection certificate traceable to standard measurement institutions, meeting the data traceability requirements of third-party testing institutions and enterprise internal quality management systems.
Daily maintenance is quite simple. After each use, operators only need to wipe residual couplant on the surface and coat thin anti-rust oil for storage, without regular complicated maintenance work. There are no consumable parts inside the structure, with ultra-long service life and low comprehensive use cost. It is essential standard supporting equipment for NDT laboratories, petrochemical inspection departments and power safety detection teams to maintain the reliability of ultrasonic testing systems.
