GE 26MG-XT Panametrics Portable Ultrasonic Corrosion Thickness Gauge

GE 26MG-XT is an upgraded handheld ultrasonic thickness tester for corrosion inspection. Built upon basic 26MG functions, it adds gain gate, auto sensitivity tuning and thickness limit alarm. Widely used as maintenance spare part for pipeline, boiler and pressure vessel wall thickness testing in petrochemical, power and offshore industries.

Description

GE 26MG-XT belongs to Panametrics 26 series portable ultrasonic thickness gauge, specially optimized for single-sided non-destructive corrosion measurement. It adopts dual-element ultrasonic transducer technology, suitable for testing pitted, oxidized and coarse-grained metal components.
Measuring range covers 0.5 mm~500 mm, compatible with carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel and other homogeneous materials. The XT version retains all functions of standard 26MG including minimum value capture, display freeze, automatic probe recognition and backlit LCD screen. Additional advanced features: adjustable gain gate, automatic signal sensitivity optimization, programmable high/low thickness audible & visual alarm to quickly identify wall thinning risk.
Compact pocket-size lightweight body supports long-duration field inspection. Two AA batteries deliver up to 250 hours continuous operation. Compatible with full series Panametrics contact, delay-line and high-temperature transducers, supporting hot surface measurement for high-temperature pipelines and furnace tubes.
Typical applications: thermal power boiler tubing inspection, petrochemical pipeline corrosion monitoring, storage tank periodic survey, refinery heat exchanger and marine equipment thickness assessment. Engineers track wall loss rate to evaluate residual service life and arrange maintenance plans.
This legacy NDT instrument has been discontinued by original manufacturer. Available inventory mainly serves overhaul replacement and spare backup for existing inspection teams. Original surplus and fully tested refurbished units are available for field maintenance.
Before measurement, complete sound velocity calibration with standard test blocks and use qualified ultrasonic couplant. Avoid violent impact and sharp bending of transducer cable. For new procurement, Olympus MG2-XT series is recommended as upgraded alternative model.
