GE XMT868 DigitalFlow Ultrasonic Liquid Flow Transmitter
GE XMT868 is Panametrics transit-time ultrasonic flow transmitter for full-pipe liquid measurement. Compatible with clamp-on transducers, it supports single/dual-channel measurement, widely used as maintenance spare part in power, water treatment and petrochemical flow monitoring systems.
Description
GE XMT868 belongs to GE Panametrics DigitalFlow series industrial ultrasonic liquid flow transmitter, adopting patented correlation transit-time measurement principle. It calculates fluid velocity, volumetric flow and flow direction by detecting ultrasonic signal travel time difference between upstream and downstream paths.
The unit provides single-channel standard configuration and optional dual-channel function. Dual-channel mode can monitor two independent pipelines simultaneously or adopt dual-path layout on one pipeline to improve measuring accuracy. It matches various clamp-on non-intrusive ultrasonic transducers; clamp-on installation requires no pipeline cutting, no process shutdown and creates no pressure loss, ideal for pipeline renovation projects.
Equipped with local keypad and display interface, technicians can complete on-site parameter setup, real-time flow data viewing, forward/reverse totalizer management and built-in signal fault diagnosis. Multiple signal interfaces are supported, including 4–20mA analog output, pulse output and serial communication. Optional Foundation Fieldbus enables seamless data upload to PLC, DCS and SCADA platforms for centralized process control.
The all-digital circuit contains no moving parts, effectively lowering long-term maintenance workload. Rugged industrial enclosure adapts to indoor and outdoor installation environments. Comprehensive self-diagnosis continuously monitors ultrasonic signal strength, cable status and transducer connection, helping maintenance staff rapidly locate field anomalies. It is suitable for acoustically conductive liquids such as circulating water, raw water, wastewater and low-viscosity refined oil.
This legacy flow transmitter series has been discontinued by the original manufacturer. Available inventory mainly serves equipment overhaul, on-site replacement and spare backup of existing flow measurement systems in thermal power plants, municipal water supply, wastewater treatment, petrochemical and industrial circulating water projects. Original surplus stock and fully tested refurbished units can be supplied for field maintenance.
Before installation, users need to confirm pipe material, pipe diameter, liquid medium and matched transducer specifications. Ensure good coupling between transducer and pipe outer wall surface; avoid sharp bending and excessive tension of signal cables. Regular inspection of coupling condition and cable integrity maintains stable measuring performance. For new projects, XMT868i and updated generation Panametrics ultrasonic flow instruments are recommended as upgraded alternatives.
