GE Panametrics 580P2-M2JR Contact Ultrasonic Thickness Transducer

GE 580P2-M2JR is a general-purpose longitudinal wave ultrasonic contact probe. It is designed for one-sided wall thickness measurement of metal materials, compatible with 25DL and other Panametrics ultrasonic thickness gauges for industrial corrosion inspection.

Description

GE Panametrics 580P2-M2JR is a widely used single crystal straight beam transducer for ultrasonic thickness measurement. The probe adopts robust wear-resistant front face, stable piezoelectric element, and M2JR dual connector interface, which can directly connect with matched signal cables such as 259205-PR.
It works with the 25DL handheld thickness gauge, utilizing ultrasonic echo principle to detect wall thickness from a single accessible side. Suitable for carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum and other metallic workpieces. Commonly used for pipeline residual thickness monitoring, pressure vessel corrosion scanning and mechanical component thickness verification.
The transducer balances penetration depth and measurement resolution, adapting to medium-thickness metal testing scenarios. It requires ultrasonic couplant like 100100 or MS30 to form stable acoustic coupling during inspection. The rugged housing can withstand frequent field use in power plants, chemical factories and ship maintenance sites.
Operators can switch measurement modes on the thickness gauge to adapt coated substrates and rough surface workpieces. When the probe wear surface is severely scratched, measurement accuracy will decline, requiring probe replacement or wear cap maintenance.
Customers can purchase the standalone 580P2-M2JR transducer, or assemble complete inspection kits including thickness gauge host, signal cable and ultrasonic couplant for on-site periodic inspection and spare parts reserve.
