GE ISX878 is a two-wire loop-powered intrinsically safe ultrasonic flow transmitter. Adopting clamp-on installation and Correlation Transit-Time technology, it realizes non-intrusive continuous liquid flow monitoring in hazardous industrial areas.

Description

GE Panametrics DigitalFlow ISX878 is a dedicated fixed ultrasonic flow instrument designed for classified explosive environments. It features ultra-low power consumption design (only 60mW), supporting two-wire 4–20mA loop power supply, simplifying wiring engineering and lowering construction cost for hazardous locations.

Matched with ISXDR series dedicated clamp-on transducers, it achieves external wall measurement without cutting pipelines or stopping production, bringing zero pressure loss. It supports pipe diameters ranging from 0.5 inch to 16 inches, suitable for carbon steel, stainless steel and lined pipelines. Single-path and optional dual-path configurations are available; dual-path mode effectively reduces measuring errors caused by flow distortion and improves overall accuracy.

The transmitter housing meets NEMA 4X protection grade, equipped with built-in LCD display and external membrane keypad for on-site parameter configuration, real-time flow data viewing and built-in self-diagnosis. Standard output includes isolated 4–20mA analog signal, pulse totalizer and Modbus communication interface, enabling seamless data transmission to DCS, PLC and SCADA systems.

With complete intrinsic safety certification, the unit can be deployed in Zone 1 & Zone 2 hazardous areas of petrochemical, oil & gas, refineries. Measuring media includes hydrocarbon liquids, fuel oil, lubricants, industrial solvents and process water. Without internal moving parts, the equipment requires minimal routine maintenance.

This model has been phased out by the manufacturer. Global users mainly source fully tested refurbished hosts, supporting transducers, signal cables and mounting fixtures for existing system maintenance and spare replacement.
