TRICONEX 8112 Remote Expansion Chassis

Product Description The TRICONEX 8112 is the Remote Expansion Module (RXM) chassis for Tricon v9–v11 SIS (Safety Instrumented Systems), designed to extend I/O and communication capacity to remote locations >30 m from the main chassis (8110). It uses triplicated RS‑485 bus to maintain TMR fault tolerance, enabling distributed I/O for large‑scale safety‑critical processes.

Core Functions

TMR Fault Tolerance: Triple‑modular redundancy with 2‑out‑of‑3 voting; no single‑point failure, same as main chassis。

Remote I/O Extension: Extends I/O to 12 km from main chassis, ideal for large plants with distributed field devices。

Redundant Communication: Triplicated RS‑485 bus ensures fault‑tolerant data transmission between main and remote chassis。

Hot‑Swap & Diagnostics: Online module replacement; comprehensive self‑diagnostics with ≤40 ms SOE resolution。

Cost‑Effective Wiring: Reduces long‑distance field wiring, lowers costs and improves signal integrity。

Applications

Oil & Gas: Offshore platforms, remote wellheads, and large refineries with distributed ESD/F&GS。

Power Generation: Large thermal/hydro power plants with remote turbine/boiler monitoring。

Chemical/Refining: Complex plants with widely spaced reactors, furnaces, and storage tanks。

Heavy Industry: Large steel mills, cement plants, and mining operations with distributed safety interlocks。
