Description

Product Description

The NI SCXI-1328 is a shielded terminal block designed for high-current signal connection and signal conditioning. It is specially developed for SCXI series analog input modules, and supports accurate collection of industrial standard current signals. The terminal block adopts full metal shielding to resist electromagnetic interference, and uses reliable screw terminals for wiring. It is an auxiliary front-end accessory for industrial multi-channel current measurement systems, and the product is discontinued while spare parts and technical support are still available.

Model Definition

SCXI represents Signal Conditioning eXtensions for Instrumentation, a modular signal conditioning platform from National Instruments. Products numbered 13xx belong to the SCXI terminal block series. SCXI-1328 is a dedicated terminal block for high-current signal acquisition. Its standard part number is 777687-28.

Technical Specifications

Electrical Specifications

This terminal block is compatible with SCXI-1120, SCXI-1120D, SCXI-1121, SCXI-1125 and SCXI-1126 analog input modules. It provides multiple differential input channels and corresponding screw terminals for signal access. It is designed for standard industrial current signals, and supports 4 to 20 mA and 0 to 20 mA current input. Built-in precision shunt resistors convert current signals into standard voltage signals for module acquisition. The maximum withstand voltage between channels and between channel and ground meets industrial safety requirements. No cold-junction compensation sensor is equipped on this model. The rear connector is a 96-pin DIN interface for direct connection to matched SCXI modules. The applicable wire gauge ranges from 26 AWG to 14 AWG.

Mechanical and Environmental Specifications

It adopts standard SCXI form factor with compact structure. The device is installed on the front of the matched module and fixed by two thumb screws. The operating temperature ranges from 0 degrees Celsius to 50 degrees Celsius, and the storage temperature ranges from -20 degrees Celsius to 70 degrees Celsius. The working humidity is 5 percent to 90 percent relative humidity without condensation. The full metal shell provides excellent shielding performance against EMI and RFI. The product complies with mainstream industrial electrical safety standards.

Interface and Communication Configuration

The front panel is equipped with multiple screw terminals for signal and ground connection, with no additional DIP switches or functional jumpers. The rear 96-pin DIN connector achieves direct physical connection and signal transmission with the supporting modules. The terminal block works in plug-and-play mode and requires no independent hardware or software configuration. It is fully compatible with NI-DAQmx driver software, and supports common development environments including LabVIEW, C/C++ and LabWindows/CVI.

Core Functions

Built-in precision shunt resistors realize stable conversion from industrial current signals to voltage signals, meeting the acquisition requirements of 4 to 20 mA and 0 to 20 mA signals. The differential wiring design effectively suppresses common-mode interference and improves measurement accuracy. The full metal shielding structure adapts to harsh industrial electromagnetic environments and ensures stable signal transmission. The standard screw terminals with strain relief structure deliver reliable connection and strong vibration resistance for long-term on-site operation. The compact layout makes wiring and daily maintenance simple and convenient.

Application Scenarios

It is mainly used for collecting current signals from industrial transmitters such as pressure, flow, liquid level and temperature transmitters. It applies to factory automation production lines, industrial process monitoring and equipment state detection. It serves as a dedicated front-end terminal block to cooperate with SCXI-1120, SCXI-1121 and other modules to build multi-channel current measurement systems. It is also suitable for laboratory equipment testing and current signal calibration work.

Usage and Maintenance Instructions

Usage

Complete all installation work after cutting off the power supply. Align the terminal block with the front connector of the module, insert it firmly and tighten the fixing screws. Select wires within the specified gauge range for wiring, and connect signal lines and ground lines strictly according to terminal labels. Connect the shielding terminal to earth ground to reduce external interference. After wiring, configure corresponding parameters in NI-DAQmx according to the converted voltage range, then start signal acquisition.

Maintenance

Keep the working environment dry and ventilated, and avoid exposure to strong electromagnetic interference, dust and corrosive gas. Conduct regular inspections to check for loose screws, oxidized terminals and damaged wire insulation, and handle faults in a timely manner. Perform cleaning only when the power is disconnected. Wipe the surface and terminals with anhydrous alcohol, and use the device again after thorough drying. For long-term storage, remove the terminal block, place it in an anti-static bag, and store it in a cool and dry place within the specified temperature range.
