PXI-1031

Product Overview The PXI-1031 is a 4-slot, low-noise, compact PXI chassis introduced by National Instruments (NI), designed for laboratory, office, and educational environments. Compatible with 3U PXI and CompactPCI modules, it features low noise operation (as low as 35 dBA) and intelligent thermal management, making it ideal for small to medium-sized measurement and control systems requiring quiet operation.

Description

I. Product

II. Model Interpretation

PXI: PCI eXtensions for Instrumentation, a PCI expansion bus standard for instruments.

1031: 1000 series (general-purpose PXI chassis), 31 represents low noise, 4 slots, enhanced cooling version.

Part Number: 778932-01 (standard AC model).

III. Technical Parameters

IV. Interface and Communication Configuration

PXI Backplane Bus: 32-bit PCI, supports DMA and plug-and-play.

Synchronization and Trigger:

Backplane 10 MHz clock, multi-module synchronous acquisition / output.

Star trigger: Independent trigger lines from the controller to each slot.

Local Bus: High-speed point-to-point communication between adjacent modules.

External Interfaces:

IEC AC power input, power switch, grounding terminal.

No additional front panel I/O, focused on backplane communication and synchronization.

V. Core Functions

Low-noise operation: 35 dBA silent design, suitable for offices, laboratories, and teaching environments.

Intelligent heat management: Temperature-controlled fan automatically adjusts speed, balancing low noise and heat dissipation (25 W per slot).

High-precision synchronization: 10 MHz low-jitter clock + 8 trigger lines, ensuring consistency of multi-module timing.

Wide temperature stability: 0–50 °C operating temperature, HALT test verified, industrial-grade reliability.

Universal Compatibility: Plug-and-play 3U PXI/CompactPCI modules, compatible with NI and third-party modules.

VI. Application Scenarios

Laboratory Measurement: Sensor signal acquisition, vibration/noise analysis, low-speed dynamic testing.

Office/Teaching Testing: Desktop automated testing, course experimental platform, small-scale research projects.

Portable Measurement and Control: Field detection, vehicle testing, portable data acquisition system.

Lightweight Industrial Control: Small production line monitoring, equipment status monitoring, low-power measurement and control nodes.

VII. Installation and Maintenance Instructions

Installation:

Rack: 4U standard cabinet, fixed rails / screws.

Desktop: Install foot pads, place stably; avoid blocking ventilation ports.

Modules: Power off and plug out, tighten the fixing screws to prevent vibration loosening.

Power-on Operation:

Connect 90–264 VAC, turn on the power switch.

The controller automatically recognizes the module, installs the driver, and then it can be used.

Daily Maintenance:

Cleaning: After power off, use a soft-bristled brush to clean the dust in the front and rear ventilation ports to prevent overheating.

Environment: Avoid moisture, dust, strong electromagnetic interference; operating temperature 0–50 °C. Electrostatic protection: When plugging or unplugging the module, wear an anti-static wristband to prevent the board cards from being damaged by static electricity.
