1. General Description

The MVME162‑003 is a high‑end 6U VME single‑board computer based on the Motorola MC68040 32‑bit microprocessor with integrated FPU, designed for industrial embedded control, data acquisition, and VMEbus systems requiring floating‑point performance, onboard SCSI storage, and Ethernet networking.
It integrates local memory, battery‑backed SRAM and RTC, two serial ports, narrow SCSI‑2, Ethernet, four IndustryPack (IP) expansion sites, and a VMEbus master/slave interface. The board works with MVME712 transition modules to bring I/O to standard connectors.
Onboard resources include 512 KB battery‑backed SRAM, battery‑backed TOD clock, one 32‑pin PLCC EPROM socket, and factory‑installed MVME162Bug firmware.
