WOODWARD 1505-3209-000 Governor Control Module
Description
WOODWARD 1505-3209-000 Governor Control Module
Overview
The WOODWARD 1505-3209-000 is a dedicated control module designed for Woodward digital governor systems, used on gas turbines, steam turbines and diesel generator sets. The WOODWARD 1505-3209-000 processes speed pickup signals, analog reference commands and discrete interlock inputs to execute closed-loop speed regulation, load control and overspeed protection logic. It communicates with other system components via internal bus and provides relay outputs for alarm and trip sequences. The WOODWARD 1505-3209-000 is a field service spare for maintenance and replacement of legacy Woodward governor cabinets in power generation plants.
Features
The WOODWARD 1505-3209-000 supports high-speed magnetic pickup signal conditioning for accurate shaft speed measurement. It integrates adjustable speed droop, ramp rate and load sharing parameters for generator parallel operation. The WOODWARD 1505-3209-000 includes built-in fault detection for signal loss, power abnormality and internal hardware errors. It provides isolated analog and discrete I/O interfaces to connect actuators, sensors and plant DCS systems. The WOODWARD 1505-3209-000 adopts rack-mounted construction and matches original pinout and mounting footprint for direct drop-in replacement.
Specs
Device Type: Governor control module Model: WOODWARD 1505-3209-000 Signal Input: Magnetic pickup speed signal, analog reference, discrete interlock Output: Analog drive command, relay alarm and trip contacts Communication: Internal system bus Mounting: Rack mount Operating Environment: Turbine control room, high vibration Application: Gas turbine, steam turbine, diesel generator governor control
Principle
The WOODWARD 1505-3209-000 continuously reads pulse signals from the magnetic speed sensor to calculate actual shaft speed. It compares the measured speed against the setpoint and generates correction signals to drive the fuel actuator. When the unit operates in parallel generator mode, it exchanges load signals with other governors to maintain stable load sharing. If overspeed, signal failure or other dangerous conditions are detected, the WOODWARD 1505-3209-000 triggers safety trip output to shut down fuel supply and protect the prime mover.
Applications
The WOODWARD 1505-3209-000 is used for prime mover governor loop replacement during power plant overhaul. It serves speed control and load management for combined-cycle gas turbine units and emergency diesel generator packages. The WOODWARD 1505-3209-000 applies to spare stock and emergency outage repair of deployed Woodward governor systems. It also supports industrial engine test bench and co-generation power unit control retrofitting.
