Description
ABB T6 L 800 Molded Case Circuit Breaker Product Description
Overview
ABB T6 L 800 is a SACE Tmax T6 series high breaking capacity molded case circuit breaker (MCCB), 800 A frame size, L stands for high ultimate short-circuit breaking grade. This ABB breaker supports TMA thermal-magnetic trip or PR221DS / PR222DS electronic trip units for distribution and load protection, available in fixed or withdrawable construction. T6 L 800 is widely used for low‑voltage main feeders, transformer secondary and heavy load branch protection, commonly used for cabinet upgrade and spare‑part replacement of Tmax T6 MCCB systems.
Features
ABB T6 L 800 adopts optimized arc extinguishing structure for high fault current interruption performance. This ABB MCCB has two mainstream trip options: TMA thermal-magnetic trip for basic overload and short-circuit protection; PR221DS-LS/I / PR222DS/P-LSIG electronic trip units supporting configurable long-time, short-time delay, instantaneous and earth fault protection. T6 L 800 can be fitted with motor operator, shunt release, undervoltage release, auxiliary and alarm contacts for remote control and status feedback. Electronic trip versions support measurement and communication accessories for SCADA connection. It complies with IEC 60947‑2 and UL 489 standards.

Principle
ABB T6 L 800 samples current signals via built‑in CTs and sends signals to the trip unit. TMA version uses bimetallic for overload delayed trip and magnetic coil for instantaneous short-circuit trip. Electronic PR22x trip units continuously calculate current values, compare against configured LSI / LSIG thresholds, and trigger selective trip sequence. The arc chamber rapidly cools and splits the arc during contact separation to safely isolate the fault circuit. Auxiliary contacts synchronously output breaker on/off and trip status signals.
Applications
ABB T6 L 800 is deployed in factory power distribution rooms, commercial buildings, water treatment plants and petrochemical auxiliary low‑voltage switchboards. This ABB MCCB protects transformer outgoing feeders, bus sections and large motor loads. T6 L 800 fits switchgear renovation and spare replacement of Tmax T6 series high breaking molded case breakers.
Installation & Maintenance Notes
Follow official ABB Tmax T6 hardware manual during installation of T6 L 800. Torque busbar terminals to specified torque value to avoid overheating. For electronic trip versions, back up protection curves before replacement and verify configuration after swap. Check contact condition, terminal tightness and cabinet heat dissipation regularly. Confirm exact model T6 L 800, pole count, trip unit type and mounting form before spare‑part swap‑out.
