Description

WARTSILA ESM-20 ENGINE PROTECTION MODULE
WARTSILA ESM-20 (Part No.PAAF074369 / PAAE192444) is the engine safety protection module for Wärtsilä marine four-stroke engine automation system, applied on marine genset and auxiliary propulsion engines. This engine protection module continuously monitors engine speed, lube oil pressure, cooling water temperature, exhaust temperature and other critical process parameters. The engine protection module executes pre-alarm, slowdown and emergency shutdown interlock once hazardous operating conditions are detected, preventing engine severe damage. The engine protection module records fault events and historical logs, communicates with vessel IAS alarm monitoring system via fieldbus, and supports local parameter setup and diagnostic troubleshooting. The engine protection module serves as core safety spare part for Wartsila engine control cabinet overhaul and engine safety system retrofit.

This ESM-20 unit adopts rack slot mounting design, powered by shipboard 24VDC supply, IP20 protection class for cabinet installation. ESM-20 features hardware watchdog and self-test function, complies with IEC 60945 marine environmental requirements, withstands engine room vibration, salt mist and wide temperature fluctuation. ESM-20 works together with BMCM main control module in CIB engine control system, widely fitted on tankers, bulk carriers and offshore vessels with Wartsila 20/26/32/46 series medium-speed diesel engines.

As marine engine safety interlock hardware, this WARTSILA ESM-20 provides independent fail-safe protection logic, which can trigger trip actions separately even when main control unit fails. WARTSILA CIB system spare parts include ESM-20 engine protection modules, BMCM main control modules, I/O boards, power supply units and communication cables for engine automation maintenance. WARTSILA engine protection modules are trusted replacement units for legacy marine medium-speed engine safety monitoring systems.
