ELOPII
Description
ELOP II (often abbreviated as ELOPII) is a specialized engineering/configuration software for the German HIMA (Black Horse) safety control system, used for programming, configuring, downloading, online monitoring, and maintenance of HIMA's SIS (Safety Instrumented System). It is a standard software for H41q/H51q (HIQuad) and HIMax series systems.
1. Basic Information
Full software name: ELOP II (Engineering Logic Operation Package II)
Brand / Developer: HIMA Paul Hildebrandt GmbH (Germany)
Current mainstream version: ELOP II V5.6 (Latest stable version)
Compatible systems:
✅ HIQuad: H41q, H51q (QMR quadruple redundancy)
✅ HIMax: F35, F40, F50, F60, etc. series
Operating environment: Windows (7/10/11, 32/64 bit)
Safety certification: SIL3 / TÜV AK6 (Compliant with IEC 61508)
II. Core Functions
Engineering Configuration (IEC 61131-3)
Support for Function Block Diagram (FBD), Ladder Diagram (LD), Structured Text (ST)
Built-in SIL3 certified standard library: logic, arithmetic, PID, counter, timer, redundancy handling, etc.
Variable definition, address allocation, I/O module configuration (such as F3216, F3336, DOZ7136/7138, etc.)
Offline development and simulation
Programming can be completed without connecting hardware → compilation → simulation → debugging
Logic verification, syntax check, simulation test, and early detection of design errors
Online download and operation
The compiled safe code is generated and downloaded to the HIMA controller via serial port / Ethernet
Online modification and download (TÜV certification): no need for full-point re-testing, supports logic update during operation
Online monitoring and diagnosis
Real-time I/O status, forced signals, variable value monitoring
Fault diagnosis: open circuit / short circuit, module failure, communication anomaly, SOE event recording (requires coordination with the host computer)
System status: CPU redundancy, power supply, fan, watchdog (WD) monitoring
Documentation and version management
Automatically generate I/O list, logic diagram, variable table, cross-reference
Version control, engineering backup / restoration, user permission management
III. Typical Application Scenarios
Petrochemical: ESD emergency stop, BMS burner management, F&G fire gas interlock
Power: Boiler protection, turbine interlock, generator safety control
Oil and gas long-distance pipeline: Station ESD, valve interlock, compressor protection
Coal chemical / pharmaceutical: High-risk process safety interlock, reaction vessel protection
IV. Association with the Model You Previously Inquired About
The terminal boards you previously checked, such as DIZ7116/3236, DOZ7136, DOZ7138, etc., all need to be configured in ELOP II as follows:
Add the corresponding I/O module (such as F3236, F3330) in the hardware configuration
Allocate terminal board channels to the module I/O addresses
Write logic and associate with on-site signals (DI/DO)
Download the program and test the communication between the terminal board and the module online
V. Summary of Key Features
✅ SIL3 safety certification: Both software and function blocks have been certified by TÜV
✅ Full-process engineering tools: Configuration → simulation → download → monitoring → documentation integration
✅ Redundant system support: Compatible with H41q/H51q quadruple redundancy, supports non-disruptive switching
✅ Industrial-grade reliability: Specifically designed for SIS, meets high availability and fault-tolerance requirements
