PCI-8517

Product Introduction The NI XNET series of PCI bus dual-channel FlexRay communication board cards have been discontinued by the original manufacturer. Currently available products are mainly in the form of disassembled / refurbished spare parts. Relying on the NI-XNET bus architecture, they are used for FlexRay bus monitoring on the PC side, ECU simulation, and HIL hardware-in-the-loop testing, targeting automotive electronic control development scenarios.

Description

Part Code Definition

PCI: Standard 32-bit PCI slot bus; 8517: Dual-channel FlexRay communication;

PN: 780685-02 (PCI-8517/2, dual-channel standard model). Technical Specifications

Two independent full-function FlexRay channels, compatible with FlexRay 2.1 protocol; single channel bus rate 10Mbps; hardware integrates large-capacity transceiver FIFO buffer, supporting cold start simulation of nodes;

Power supply: +5V 210mA, +3.3V 940mA; full-height PCI specification, net weight 102g; operating temperature range 0~55℃, storage -20~70℃; supports RTSI synchronous bus, can be synchronized with the hardware timing of DAQ acquisition card. Interface & Communication Configuration

Front panel: 2×DB9 bus interface; Rear end: PCI host bus; Equipped with NI-XNET driver, compatible with Windows and LabVIEW RT real-time system. The development environment supports LabVIEW, CVI, C/C++, Python. It can be linked with NI DAQ board for synchronous acquisition and control. Core Functions

Real-time monitoring and parsing of FlexRay bus messages, simulation of on-board ECU nodes, injection of bus fault frames, independent networking debugging of dual network segments, HIL simulation of vehicle electrical control, stress testing of bus load rate, rapid control prototype development and calibration. Application Scenarios

Passenger vehicle / commercial vehicle chassis ECU bench testing, new energy vehicle electronic control HIL simulation system, transmission controller calibration, on-site vehicle electronic control bus verification for construction machinery, on-board FlexRay network fault troubleshooting laboratory. Operation & Maintenance Notes

The bus wiring uses shielded twisted-pair cables, and 120Ω termination matching resistors are configured at both the beginning and the end of the bus; it is strictly prohibited to plug or unplug the DB9 bus connector while powered on; signal shielding terminals should be installed in high electromagnetic interference conditions, and short-circuit protection should be implemented for idle channels.
