471: Standard factory configuration variant, equipped with RS232+Dual RS485 serial port, onboard status LED & small diagnostic display, standard backplane bus interface for NetCon rack backplane docking.

Technical Specifications

Electrical & Mechanical Parameter

Power Supply: 24VDC(18~32VDC) powered via rack backplane, typical power consumption 8W

Working Ambient Temp: -20℃~+70℃, Storage Temp:-40℃~+85℃, Humidity 5%~95%RH non-condensing

Dimension: Standard 6U rack plug-in size 315×160×32mm, net weight≈910g, metal shielding casing for anti-electromagnetic interference

Certification: UL, CE, SIL2 safety certification, Class I Div.2 hazardous area compliant

Signal Processing: Built-in isolated signal circuit, serial communication baud rate range 300~38400bps auto-adaptive

Internal Hardware Configuration

Independent 32-bit processing core, backplane bus for data interaction with rack main CPU, isolated communication isolation transformer for each serial channel to avoid ground loop interference, onboard fault indicator LED for power/communication/channel abnormal alarm.

Interface and Communication Configuration

Front Panel Interface:

1×RS232 debug port for local parameter upload/download & handheld commissioning;

2×Isolated RS485 ports supporting Modbus-RTU, Woodward proprietary communication protocol;

LED status indicators: Power, Run, Com Fault, Channel Alarm; small segment LED for real-time channel diagnosis data display.

Back Interface: Gold finger backplane connector, connects NetCon rack internal bus to exchange data with other CPU/I/O modules in chassis.

Core Function

Serial protocol conversion: Convert field device serial data to backplane bus signal for main control CPU collection, realize cross-protocol data transit between governor and field instruments.

Remote DCS data transmission: Transmit turbine speed, valve position, pressure parameters via RS485 Modbus-RTU to central control DCS system, receive remote setpoint command reversely.

Auxiliary DI/DO signal expansion: Expand discrete switch signal collection for unit protection interlock, forward trip/alarm signal to main governor logic unit.

Online self-diagnosis: Real-time monitor communication channel short/open circuit, power undervoltage, backplane bus fault; store fault codes on onboard memory for onsite troubleshooting query.

Multi-device cascading: Support multi-module parallel installation in same NetCon rack, expand system communication access quantity for multi-valve/auxiliary equipment centralized control.

Applicable Scenarios

Steam/gas turbine generator control cabinet, waste heat generation turbine control system, petrochemical compressor prime mover control rack, matched with Woodward 505 series governor and ProTech overspeed protection unit for complete unit control network construction.

Operation and Maintenance Instructions

Install in standard NetCon rack slot, avoid installing beside high-power inverter and contactor to prevent serial communication distortion caused by strong EMI.

Periodically check front serial wiring tightness and backplane gold finger for dust accumulation; clean dust with dry air blower annually to avoid poor contact leading to communication dropout.

When communication abnormal occurs: firstly verify 24VDC rack power supply, then check RS485 wiring polarity and station address setting consistency with DCS upper computer.

Replacement must adopt original 5501-471 module; download matching communication configuration parameters after replacement before putting into operation.
