Woodward 8237‑1596 is a safety‑critical triple‑voted (2‑out‑of‑3) digital overspeed protection unit from the ProTech‑GII series, upgraded from the classic ProTech‑203. It monitors rotational speed and acceleration of gas/steam turbines, hydro turbines, reciprocating engines and compressors, triggering safe shutdown under overspeed/over‑acceleration conditions to prevent catastrophic equipment failure.
