8273-140

Woodward 8273‑140 is a microprocessor‑based digital load‑sharing and speed controller of the classic 2301D series (old part number, new equivalent: 8273‑501). It replaces analog 2301A controllers, delivering high‑precision digital speed regulation and real‑kW load balancing for parallel‑operated generator sets, diesel/gas engines, and turbines. Widely used in power generation, marine power systems, oil‑gas backup power, and industrial prime‑mover control systems.

Description

Core Functions

  1. Dual control modes: isochronous (constant‑speed) for single‑unit stable operation; droop/base‑load mode for multi‑genset parallel load sharing.

  2. Advanced digital PID algorithm + adaptive speed filter, optimizing stability for low‑/medium‑speed engines; supports actuator position droop and idle gain adjustment.

  3. Comprehensive protection: overspeed protection, actuator stroke limit, load rejection protection, over‑current/over‑voltage self‑diagnosis and fault logging.

  4. Supports Modbus‑RTU communication for remote monitoring, parameter tuning, and DCS/PLC system integration.

  5. Compatible with legacy 2301A systems; features bumpless transfer and anti‑interference design for harsh industrial environments.
