140XCA10215

140XCA10215 is a CableFast system pigtail cable for Schneider Electric Modicon Quantum PLC modules with a 50‑pin SUB‑D interface. It converts the module’s 50‑pin port into 40 color‑coded free ends for direct field wiring. The cable is shielded for high noise immunity in industrial environments.

Description

  • Weight: approx. 2.18 kg

  • Color: Black outer jacket

  • Origin: France

  • Certifications: CE, UL, cUL; Green Premium compliant

3. Interface Description

  • Module End: 1 × 50‑pin SUB‑D male connector (locks to Quantum module)

  • Field End: 40 color‑coded pigtail leads (stripped/tinned ends)

  • Cable Construction: Shielded twisted pair (STP), multi‑strand copper conductors

  • Shield: Overall foil + braid shield (improved EMC performance)

4. Compatible Quantum Modules

Use with any Quantum module having a 50‑pin D‑Sub port:
  • Digital input/output modules

  • Analog input/output modules

  • High‑speed counter/encoder modules

  • Communication and specialty function modules

5. Technical Specifications

Electrical

  • Conductor: Stranded copper

  • Insulation: PVC, industrial grade

  • Voltage Rating: 300 V (industrial control)

  • Current Rating: 1 A per lead (typical)

Environmental

  • Operating Temperature: 0 °C to +60 °C

  • Storage Temperature: −40 °C to +85 °C

  • Humidity: 5–80 % RH, non‑condensing

  • Altitude: ≤ 1,000 m (no derating)

  • Flammability: UL 94 V‑0

Mechanical

  • Outer Jacket: Black, flame‑retardant PVC

  • Bend Radius: ≥ 8 × cable diameter

  • Termination: SUB‑D male with locking screws; tinned pigtail ends

6. Installation Instructions

  1. Module Connection
    • Align the 50‑pin SUB‑D male with the module’s female port.

    • Insert firmly and tighten the two captive screws (torque to 0.5–0.8 N·m).

  2. Field Wiring
    • Route cable away from high‑voltage/power cables (maintain ≥ 10 cm separation).

    • Connect pigtail leads to terminal blocks per color code and module pinout.

    • Keep unused leads insulated and secured.

  3. Shield Grounding (Critical)
    • Connect the cable shield to chassis earth at one end only (cabinet side).

    • Avoid double grounding to prevent ground loops.

7. Pinout & Color Code

  • The 50‑pin SUB‑D carries signals for up to 40 I/O points; 10 pins are reserved/not connected.

  • Each of the 40 pigtails has a unique color (refer to your Quantum module’s user manual for pin‑to‑color mapping).

8. Maintenance & Handling

  • Routing: Avoid sharp bends, crushing, or abrasion.

  • Inspection: Periodically check connector tightness, insulation, and shield continuity.

  • Replacement: Replace if jacket is damaged, connectors are worn, or insulation is compromised.

9. Safety & EMC Guidelines

  • Qualified Personnel Only: Installation and service must be performed by authorized electricians.

  • Isolate Power: Disconnect all system power before connecting/disconnecting the cable.

  • EMC Compliance: Use shielded cables, proper grounding, and separation from power circuits to meet CE/UL requirements.

  • Industrial Use Only: Designed for industrial control systems; not for life‑safety applications without additional safety measures.
