6. Installation Instructions
- Module Connection
Align the 50‑pin SUB‑D male with the module’s female port.
Insert firmly and tighten the two captive screws (torque to 0.5–0.8 N·m).
- Field Wiring
Route cable away from high‑voltage/power cables (maintain ≥ 10 cm separation).
Connect pigtail leads to terminal blocks per color code and module pinout.
Keep unused leads insulated and secured.
- Shield Grounding (Critical)
Connect the cable shield to chassis earth at one end only (cabinet side).
Avoid double grounding to prevent ground loops.
7. Pinout & Color Code
The 50‑pin SUB‑D carries signals for up to 40 I/O points; 10 pins are reserved/not connected.
Each of the 40 pigtails has a unique color (refer to your Quantum module’s user manual for pin‑to‑color mapping).
8. Maintenance & Handling
Routing: Avoid sharp bends, crushing, or abrasion.
Inspection: Periodically check connector tightness, insulation, and shield continuity.
Replacement: Replace if jacket is damaged, connectors are worn, or insulation is compromised.
9. Safety & EMC Guidelines
Qualified Personnel Only: Installation and service must be performed by authorized electricians.
Isolate Power: Disconnect all system power before connecting/disconnecting the cable.
EMC Compliance: Use shielded cables, proper grounding, and separation from power circuits to meet CE/UL requirements.
Industrial Use Only: Designed for industrial control systems; not for life‑safety applications without additional safety measures.
